St Mark's is located in Hiiifields, a part of the citv is k￿wn ￿ be rel￿[V¢ty deprived. Significant change is taking
place in the area. For example: Eden Square Student Ha115 of Resid¢n¢e op¢thed in Septetnber 2020, based on a
Tedeveloptncnt of the (orn]er Nurses AccomnM)dation block and outpatients. departtllenL across the road from
the church.
The chuTch buildingj hTghly significant the cty. conlains a mur*1 painted by Gernun refi]2ee Hans Feibus¢h in 1963.
N¢verthele&s, it Wds closed in 1972, the mural bricked up and the church le8sed 10 the NHS to use ￿ an oulpatiethts,
clinic. In 2006 the NHS moved oui and the building fell In￿ di5fEpair. It is currendy on the Historic EngLand BuildTng at
Risk Register.
In 2016, the Bishop 4)f Coventy fftnvited Hoty Trinity Bro￿ptOn to partner the dioeese aDd plant a new ¢its'.c¢ntre
resour¢e church. Sp￿lfjca1lY ¢0 reach out to the many students aDd Youn￿ people in th¢ area. The new ¢hur¢h will
resourc¢ oth¢rs in th¢ dioGeSe, ￿(￿elling rnission in th¢ fom) of church pl￿tillg.. trdinin& and resourcing oLher churches
in the ar£a. The project has attrdGtcd a g(K)d level of sUp￿rt from the Diocese of Coventry, other chur¢hts at
Individu￿S.
Revd Phil Atkit)son was aprK)in*d on l January 2017, and work on th¢ building rOmmEnc￿ ITr April. As the year
progressed. NFIS fixtures and fittings wejr tymoi'ed. and the building reP￿red and Jrnovatcd into a fvlly usable
space with ele¢tri¢s, heating, and lighting newly installed. Tht ¢hur¢h launched on l Ocrober 2017, aThl rEGeived

Th¢ CO￿lD pandemic had a significant itllpatt on the chur¢h- with setNices and other events moved ¢)nline. Thi5 online
provision ha5 conlinuel with the morning gathering now rouun¢l> broad¢ast live. The average Sunday L¥)ngrcgation
now stand5 at arouE)d 22<_?50 spread across both gatherings. Following ￿UCh prwaratioE) and prayer, our first Church
plant wa5 sent out in Scptember 2021, led by Nlatt and Lorn& SpiDi SUPPOrted by a team senr out from St Mrts. A
. second church plant sent out ill April 2022. led by Paul pavlo￿ suprK)rttd by a team thai also sent out fi￿M St
Marks.

We saw Sunday attendance increase to c225-250. In comnx>n with m￿Y ¢bUr¢￿S, attendance hRs yet b) return to
pr¢-pandemi¢ levels. but we have been encouraged with the number of new people joining the Church. The number of
adults in groups is 231, a significant in¢rease on last year. Thi5 numbcr incllldGs St￿lent connect groups and may contain

Continuing to set tbe eitv of Covetttry Flourish
The Wortd Fi>od hub 4x)ntinued to develop. There is now a dedicated I￿lUnteer tèam frotn St Maths, and there is a
strong r¢lationship between the Food Hub ond tbe OlleFamily con8re8ation at St Peter's with manv refi]gee8 coming to
faith and bein8 b4ptised.
We strategicdly partnered with 5 chariti¢8 in 2023 - Ernbrd£<, Carriers of Hope, CAP, Open Door5, and Q)Td. The &im
to give IOO/o of our fundiDg allllual ￿ncoMe away to support local and international charities. In 2023 we gave £32k
to our partrter charitie5, 11.6Dh of our lotsl unrestrict¢d in¢ome. We haNe received numerous repotts about the impact
that this has made and the gratits￿e from these ch8ritie5 to St hlalks.
In addition to our pthller charitie4 wr raised over £5k &s part of the LKTrve Christmas Campaig￿ and give of ollr Church

Ollr first ¢hurch planL St Peter's Ivds sent out in 20?1 and now h&% an average Sunday attendance of 60-70 across two
congregations. Our second plaut. led by Paul Pavlou ¢0 Risen Christ Èn Wyke]4 wa5 sent out in 2022 arlll has already
started a second family COnEreg*ion and grown to aveyage Sunday attendance of 35_40. ThEy now h8ve contact with
over 150 p¢ople outside the church on a weekly b*%i%.

At the end of th¢ period. the unrestricted fjJThds r¢s¢rv¢5 Stood at £218,914 (2022 - £250259) and restricted funds
reserves were £58.508 (2092 - £25,496).
The PCC aims to maintain a baian¢e in the unresrrirted funds of at le&%t three months of staff wages. Currently. how¢v¢r,
there are plans for majot building works on the chur¢h and so more fund5 are being held.

The Racial Diversity cornmillee have regularly to diwuss how thc church £an be nx)re repr¢s¢ntative of the city and
to challenge the PCC on how we can prtsdu¢4 a better enviroThment for people to engage in churth. They ran a
numb¢r of different events including All Nations Sunday and'let's ialk abo￿ race, event wbi¢h ￿ well attended.
