Working with disadvantaged and disabled beneficiaries from Lancashire. Providing leisure and sporting activities as well as offering education and support for any issues they may be facing in life. Ride2Success likes to adopt a multi agency working approach helping individuals in a holistic manner meaning they achieve the greatest outcomes possible. 1. To promote for the benefit of young or disabled people, in Preston and the surrounding areas, the provision of facilities for horse riding in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said young or disabled people.

Over the past year, R2S has<br>seen modest growth and achieved excellent results in empowering<br>participants and volunteers alike.<br>Key Achievements<br>1. Empowering Disabled Members through Skill Development<br>R2S has made significant strides in equipping disabled participants with<br>valuable skills and qualifications. Four disabled members obtained<br>recognised coaching qualifications this year and now contribute as sport<br>coaches within R2S. This milestone demonstrates their personal growth,<br>increased confidence, and independence. Furthermore, four participants<br>have advanced to Team Leader roles, leading sessions and becoming<br>role models within the organisation.<br>2. Inclusive Opportunities in Sport<br>The programme continues to offer a variety of sports activities tailored to<br>members’ interests and abilities. Participants can enjoy activities<br>recreationally or at competitive levels. Some members have honed their<br>skills to the extent of competing with other clubs, reflecting the<br>programme’s success in nurturing talent and ambition.<br>3. Volunteer Development<br>Volunteers remain at the heart of R2S, gaining invaluable experience in<br>adapting sports activities for individuals with physical and learning<br>disabilities. Working in this creative and challenging environment<br>enhances their professional knowledge and skills. Many young<br>volunteers have leveraged this experience to progress in their chosen<br>careers, with some currently pursuing studies in sports therapy,<br>medicine, social work, and education.<br>4. Support for Parents and Carers<br>R2S recognises the importance of supporting the families of its members.<br>Parents and carers benefit from opportunities to socialise, share<br>experiences, and access information about community resources and<br>benefit entitlements. Additionally, R2S sessions provide much-needed<br>respite, allowing carers to recharge while their children engage in<br>meaningful activities.<br>R2S aims to build on this year’s achievements by:<br>•<br>Expanding the range of sports and training opportunities<br>available.<br>•<br>Increasing the number of participants progressing to leadership<br>roles.<br>•<br>Strengthening partnerships with local organisations to offer<br>enhanced community support.<br>•<br>Growing volunteer recruitment and development initiatives to<br>foster greater inclusion and professional opportunities.<br>The past year has demonstrated the transformative impact of R2S’s<br>programmes on participants, volunteers, and their families. With a focus<br>on continuous improvement and sustainable growth, R2S remains<br>committed to empowering disabled young people and promoting<br>inclusivity through sport.|

R2S does not provide any grants. We rely heavily on volunteers who do many things at R2S including providing sports coaching, providing 1 to 1 support to the beneficiaries. The 2023-2024 period marked a year of growth and progress for **Summary of the main** Ride2Success (R2S), with significant strides in promoting accessibility, **achievements of the charity** inclusivity, and social inclusion for disabled young people in sports and **during the year** leisure activities. This progress has enhanced the quality of life for our members and solidified our reputation as a leader in delivering accessible sports programmes. Programme Expansion and Impact R2S has seen a notable increase in demand for its services, particularly in horse riding, which has become one of the most sought-after activities. This surge in interest reflects the growing recognition of the physical, social, and emotional benefits that horse riding provides to our members. Additionally, the extension of our programme to include carers, particularly young carers, has been a highlight this year. This initiative, inspired by feedback from our members, has provided much-needed respite and opportunities for young carers to connect with peers facing similar challenges. Developing Future Coaches and Leaders R2S has continued its investment in the development of members and volunteers, resulting in tangible success stories. Several members have achieved accredited coaching qualifications, enabling them to deliver sports activities both within R2S and in the wider community. Notably, one long-standing volunteer progressed from Group Leader to Head Coach, exemplifying the pathways for growth and leadership within our organisation. This investment has also paved the way for participants to explore paid coaching opportunities with partner organisations, further enhancing their independence and career prospects. Empowering Members Through Confidence and Skills Through the opportunities provided by R2S, members have grown in confidence, developed physical skills, and achieved formal qualifications. These achievements contribute significantly to their sense of independence and personal development. The club’s commitment to delivering high-quality accessible sports programmes has garnered recognition, driving increased demand from both young people and external organisations. Support from Grant-Giving Organisations The invaluable support of grant-giving organisations has enabled R2S to offer vital sessions, including horse riding and other sports, to those in need. These grants have been instrumental in meeting the heightened demand, particularly for horse riding, which continues to attract participants from across Preston and surrounding boroughs. A Successful Year of Adaptation and Inclusion Despite challenges, R2S has adapted well, incorporating online interactions and home exercise options to maintain engagement. The return to face-to-face activities has been particularly rewarding, enabling us to work directly with young people and embark on new projects. Overall, 2023-2024 has been a year of incredible success for R2S. Members have not only accessed activities they may not have otherwise experienced but have also gained a genuine sense of achievement and inclusion. This growth underscores R2S’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities and breaking down barriers for disabled young people and their families.

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** 

As a small charity we have little in the way of reserves. However we have managed to increase the reserve fund slightly which will be used to maintain projects for a short period should we find funding hard to come by. In future R2S will look to have 50% of our annual expenditure in reserve but this will likely be a couple of years down the line.

R2S has received grant funding from a number of grant giving organisations 16 in total.
