for the Year Ended 31 January 2024

The Trustees present their report for the charity for the year ended 31 January 2024. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS L02 effective 1 January 2015).

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

## **Objectives and Aims**

The Character Through Cricket Charity was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in February 2019 (Charity no. 1182262). The charity exists to promote the concept of Character Education and delivers training to teachers, sports coaches and others to enable them to implement and deliver Character Education activity projects undertaken through the medium of sport.

The Charity's governing document establishes the CIO’s objects as follows:

- a) To advance in life and help young people to develop positive character through the medium of cricket and other sports by the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions in life;

- b) Advancing education;

- c) Providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.

## **Public benefit**

The Trustees have referred to the guidance offered by the Charity Commission in reviewing aims and objectives and in planning activities. In particular, the Trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives and to ensure that these activities are carried out for the public benefit by delivering services that are valued by our members and stakeholders, that activities will deliver benefit to wide sections of the public (and especially those who can benefit most) and to enable those who deliver Character Through Cricket projects to develop and adopt best practice.

## **Charitable activities**

During the course of the year ending 31 January 2024, the charity updated its training materials, provided _pro bono_ support to the East Africa Character Development Trust in Nairobi, Kenya and delivered training workshops in a range of UK schools.
