The objects of the CIO are restricted specifically for the public benefit to promote the art of Chinese literature in English translation and to advance education in such literature, in particular but not exclusively by the provision of: 

## 3.1 translated literature 

- 3.2 information and educational resources; 

- 3.3 advice, training and mentoring for translators of Chinese literature into English; 

## 3.4 public events. 

In this clause “Chinese literature” means literature written in Chinese, irrespective of the author’s country of origin or residence

## _**Activities for Readers**_ 

1. We continued our Read Paper Republic series – complete, free-to-read pieces of fiction, non-fiction or poetry. 

2. We continued collaboration with Open University on a series of online book clubs. 

3. We produced our popular annual Roll Call of new translations of Chinese literature.

4. We continued our work with the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators.

**Achievements and Performance** 



SORP reference **Contribution to the work of the inaugural Orville and Baifang Schell Prize for the best translated work of Chinese Literature (run by the China Books Review).** China Books Review recruited two members of the PR team to act as Summary of the main judges for the fiction/literature cagegory of the achievements of the charity, prize. identifying the difference the Para 1.20 **Read Paper Republic.** Our flagship series of charity’s work has made to free-to-read online publications continued the circumstances of its apace, with one series published during this beneficiaries and any wider reporting period and a second shortly benefits to society as a thereafter. The _Home_ series comprised six whole. pieces (stories or poems) published in mid2024. Contributors (authors and translators each made videos of themselves reading their pieces, and the resulting videos contributed to our social media promotion of the RPR series. For example, we posted the PR videos on the Youtube channel Translators Aloud. We have continued to be able to pay both translators and editors for their work, which we consider a vital project and an important use of raised funds. **Open University Online Book Club.** Our partnership with Open University has grown into a regular and successful series of online “Book Club” meetings. Paper Republic members select stories, often from previous Read Paper Republic series, and contact participants – typically the translators and occasionally authors – to join a lively conversation that involves readers. Book club participation has remained high over the course of the year. This period encompassed three book club events, for which Paper Republic was paid an organizational fee. **Benefits to the reading public** : free, easy access to high quality translations, with the additional benefit of group discussion and questions posed to expert translators. **Newsletter** . We successfully revived the newsletter during this period, producing four issues, at roughly three-monthly intervals, with responsibilities for tasks divided between the management team. **Annual Roll Call of new translations of Chinese literature.** This series continues to result in high reader engagement, and many community contributions.
