REPORT OF TRUSTEES CONTINUED

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Sedbury Evangelical Church is a Bible -centred family Church looking to serve people. We believe that Jesus is the son of God and that His death and resurrection are good news to everyone who believes in Him. We aim to live out our faith in Christ in the community around us and we welcome as many people as possible to join us in any of our regular services and activities, regardless of belief or background.

The Church has considered the Commission guidance on public benefit and in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. We try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of the community through:

Worship and prayer, learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.

Provision of pastoral care for people living in the local community. Missionary and outreach work.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

We have been encouraged during 2024 as we have welcomed a number of visitors at services and have been blessed by the support and ministry of Caerwent Baptist Church along with the many others who faithfully come throughout the year to minister God’s word. It was a great joy in October, to open the baptistry and witness a new believer testify to the power of Gods saving grace by going through the waters of baptism and making a public declaration of the change that Jesus has made.

2024 also saw the starting up of a weekly Mums and Tots group in the Church.

As Trustees we give thanks to God for this encouragement and His faithfulness.

Charitable activities

The Trustees confirm that they have had regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission. The main achievements of the charity during the year were:

Worship and Prayer

Sedbury Evangelical Church has continued to offer services during the week and over the course of the year that our community find both beneficial and spiritually uplifting. Our services provide the opportunity to hear a message from the Bible in a way that is inspiring and encouraging. The Church is very well supported by the Elder and visiting speakers from local Churches.

At various times throughout the year, the Church meet together over a shared meal and invite others from the community to join.

5

SEDBURY EVANGELICAL CHURCH

The Church places an important emphasis on Prayer and holds regular prayer meetings on a Wednesday evening.

Mission and Evangelism

The activities identified above would also form part of our evangelism strategy. We have held special services at Harvest and Christmas and to celebrate the anniversary of the Church being formed. In addition, the Church makes grants to other Christian Charities which are advancing the Christian faith.

Outside relationships

The Church is a member of the FIEC and adopts the FIEC Basis of faith as its own.

Volunteers

We would like to thank all the volunteers who have worked on behalf of the Church.

Financial Review

We acknowledge God’s blessing to us through the generous giving of our members and those attending.

Reserves policy

Sedbury Evangelical Church does not hold a reserves policy

Principal funding sources

The charity is wholly dependent on the generosity of individuals and associated Gift Aid to continue its work.
