Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit)
Since its registration in 2019, Touba Community Bristol Charity (TCBC)
has been continuously offering advice, advocacy and information to the
community on wide range of topics including employment and
volunteering opportunities, education, accommodation, immigration,
social welfare, Islam and Mouridism.
TCBC is always striving to support more people to fulfil their potential by
working to address issues at the earliest possible stage. Most
importantly we are always focusing on nurturing self-independency and
fostering good individual citizens who are economically active.
Our main focus with the Post COVID-19 lockdown was to build and
solidify social bonding and reconnect the communities affected by Covid-
19; combating isolation, lack of integration and loneliness.
We have expanded our weekly seminars to three days a week as a result
of increased demand, offering educational and extracurricular activities,
Islamic activities, sermons and workshops for adults and their families,
and young people in order to contribute to their education, improve their
wellbeing and support their overall development.
All the activities we undertake for the benefit of the general public are
guided by the basis of Mouridism, consisting of: being in the service of
humanity through education and hard work, solidarity, tolerance, charity
and mutual respect.
Furthermore, in order to reach out to more people and enhance
community engagement and social cohesion, we organise regular
community events involving/inviting EVERYONE in the local community
irrelevant of race, creed, belief, religion, age, gender or sexual
orientation.
The purpose of these activities are to connect and bring more people
together, reduce social isolation and build strong relationships in and
across communities.
In planning the charity's activities for the year, the trustees have reviewed
the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission at their
trustee meetings as required by Section 17(5) of the Charities Act and
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008.
