## **SecEon B: Structure Governance and Management** 

The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Charitable Trust is a Charitable Incorporated OrganisaSon (CIO) whose only voSng members are its Charity Trustees. The charity has the “FoundaSon” model consStuSon. New Trustees are recommended by the Board of Trustees to The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Court of Assistants for approval, in accordance with the ConsStuSon. Three Trustees reSre at the end of their terms of office and may stand for re-elecSon for a further term of three years, aber which they must reSre for a minimum period of one year before being eligible to stand for re-elecSon. 

Trustees normally meet at least four Smes a year and all decisions pertaining to the governance and management of the Charity are taken at those meeSngs. The preference of Trustees is to meet in person but due to a number of health and travel related issues during the year some meeSngs were held on line. In view of the small size of the Charity, the Trustees have chosen not to delegate any of their powers to sub-commi[ees although

certain individuals act as liaison officers for the Charity.  The Charity does not employ any staff. 

AdministraSve support to the charity has tradiSonally been provided by the Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters for which a charge was made in accordance with the Terms of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Trust and The Worshipful Company of Firefighters.  Due to changes in working pracSces this arrangement is under review. 

## **SecEon C: ObjecEves and acEviEes** 

The objects of the charity as set out in its governing document remain as follows: 

a) The advancement of public educaSon in fire safety ma[ers and in furtherance thereof to award scholarships or bursaries or prizes for people involved with or associated with firefighSng rescue or fire safety who in the opinion of the Trustees would benefit from the scholarship, 

b) To establish and support a museum and/or to accept gibs or loans of equipment and artefacts, and 

c) To support such chariSes and charitable purposed as the Trustees shall decide. 

## **SecEon D: Achievements and performance** 

Like many small ChariSes the income and applicaSons for Grants that meet the Charitable ObjecSves have significantly reduced over the last year. 

During the reporSng period one award was made to a Post Graduate Student. 

- Katharine Skinner – Glasgow Caledonian - £1,000 award made - payment deferred 

Grants were also awarded to the following applicants: 

- Project Rosoman - A training iniSaSve in conjuncSon with the City of London Police to improve the awareness of risk in prominent City buildings following the a[acks at Fishmongers Hall - £3,000 - Yet to need funding 

## **SecEon E: Financial review** 

During the period under report, gross income from various sources was £18,132. Expenditure amounted to £465. Including the balance of cash carried forward, the year-end total financial assets were made up of £88,886 banked and £369,252 in capital investments. 

Income was received predominantly from two main sources – 

1. Worshipful Company of Firefighters Member Charitable Giving - £7,495 

2. Income from the Capital Investment Account -  £8,700 

Gib Aid accounted for a further £1,938 of income for the accounSng period. 

The Charity has a Capital Investment Account managed by JM Finn which at the Sme of the accounSng period is valued at £369,252

The Receipt and Payment Account has been independently examined by Colin C Mackrill, FCCA. 

There was no Annual Charity Fundraising Dinner (known as The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Charitable Trust City Dinner) this year. 

The Charity’s bank accounts are held at Metro Bank, 1 Southampton Row, London. WC1B 5HA. A/C 34833397, 23-05-80. 

The Charity has no funds materially in deficit.
