SecEon B: Structure Governance and Management
The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Charitable Trust is a Charitable Incorporated OrganisaSon (CIO) whose only voSng members are its Charity Trustees. The charity has the “FoundaSon” model consStuSon. New Trustees are recommended by the Board of Trustees to The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Court of Assistants for approval, in accordance with the ConsStuSon. Three Trustees reSre each year at the end of their terms of office and may stand for re-elecSon for a further term of three years, ader which they must reSre for a minimum period of one year before being eligible to stand for re-elecSon.
Trustees normally meet at least four Smes a year and all decisions pertaining to the governance and management of the Charity are taken at those meeSngs. However, due to

the Coronavirus Pandemic and the restricSve measures necessarily imposed by HM Government during the term of this report all meeSngs were held on-line. In view of the small size of the Charity, the Trustees have chosen not to delegate any of their powers to sub-commi\ees. The Charity does not employ any staff.
AdministraSve support to the charity is provided by the Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters for which a charge is made in accordance with the Terms of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Trust and The Worshipful Company of Firefighters.
SecEon C: ObjecEves and acEviEes
The objects of the charity set out in its governing document are as follows:
a) The advancement of public educaSon in fire safety ma\ers and in furtherance thereof to award scholarships or bursaries or prizes for people involved with or associated with firefighSng rescue or fire safety who in the opinion of the Trustees would benefit from the scholarship,
b) To establish and support a museum and/or to accept gids or loans of equipment and artefacts, and
c) To support such chariSes and charitable purposed as the Trustees shall decide.
SecEon D: Achievements and performance
Like many small ChariSes the income and applicaSons for Grants that meet the Charitable ObjecSves have significantly reduced since the Coronavirus Pandemic.
During the reporSng period three £1,000 grants were awarded to Post Graduate Students awarded degrees in Fire Engineering, Fire and Rescue or Emergency Planning related subjects from Glasgow Caledonian and Portsmouth UniversiSes:

Toby Meredith - University of Portsmouth – What are the Primary Concerns which may prohibit the rapid deployment of Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (such as Drones) for Search and Rescue OperaSons in the immediate adermath of a disaster?

Colin Hird – Glasgow Caledonian University - Should Scotland ban combusSble facade systems?
CerSficates of Achievement were presented with the Grants to the invited candidates accompanied by their guest at the Massey Shaw Dinner in April 2022.
Grants were also awarded to the following applicants:

Downs Syndrome 21, Essex – Training for Adolescents to prepare for Adult Life - £3,000

RNLI – Replacement Tower Lifeboat StaSon, The Embankment, River Thames, London -£10,000 to improve casualty treatment area.

SecEon E: Financial review
During the period under report, gross income from various sources was £19,175. Expenditure amounted to £47,572. Including the balance of cash carried forward, the yearend total financial assets were £472,678 consisSng of £71,219 in revenue and £401,459 in capital investments.
Income was received predominantly from three main sources –

Worshipful Company of Firefighters Member Charitable Giving - £ 7,345

Income from the Capital Investment Account - £ 8,696
Gid Aid accounted for a further £1,749 income for the accounSng period.
The Charity has a Capital Investment Account managed by JM Finn which at the Sme of the accounSng period is valued at £401,459
There was no Annual Charity Fundraising Dinner (known as The Worshipful Company of Firefighters Charitable Trust City Dinner), for the third year running with an esSmated loss of income of approximately £19,000
The Charity’s bank accounts are held at Metro Bank, 1 Southampton Row, London. WC1B 5HA. A/C 34833397, 23-05-80.
The Charity has no funds materially in deficit.
