The main activity of Sheddit Men’s Shed is
running a workshop for the public benefit. It
is aimed at preventing people, particularly
but not exclusively older men, within
Swavesey and the surrounding areas from
becoming socially excluded; also to relieve
the needs of those people who are socially
excluded and to assist them to integrate
into society through the provision of these
workshop facilities. The Trustees have had
regard to the guidance by the Charity

Para 1.20 During 2024/25 Sheddit Men’s Shed
continued to build activities for local people.
Volunteers worked to build the Library of
Things. Minor projects were undertaken for
local sustainability events, including
building dormouse nest houses, bug hotels
and bird boxes.
To assist with attracting volunteers and
benefit to the community the shed
extended its activities to include wider
sustainability activities, such as tree
planting and rewilding and took up
opportunities at local community events.
The Shed volunteers helped organise two
sustainability events in Swavesey.
The benefits of these events and the shed
activities are wide and varied, including
better wellbeing, increased knowledge of
sustainability issues and the value of
biodiversity.
