The main activity of Sheddit Men’s Shed is running a workshop for the public benefit. It is aimed at preventing people, particularly but not exclusively older men, within Swavesey and the surrounding areas from becoming socially excluded; also to relieve the needs of those people who are socially excluded and to assist them to integrate into society through the provision of these workshop facilities. The Trustees have had regard to the guidance by the Charity Commission on public benefit. |

Para 1.20 | During 2022/23 Sheddit Men’s Shed started to rebuild activities after pausing for Covid. A new location for the shed was found, the main activity for the year was clearing, cleaning and equipping this workshop. The workshop was opened in March 23 and a core of 10 volunteers has been established. To assist with attracting volunteers and benefit to the community the shed extended its activities to include wider sustainability activities, such as tree planting and rewilding. Two events were held to promote volunteering and sustainability in and around Swavesey. The benefits of these events and the shed activities are wide and varied, including better wellbeing, increased knowledge of sustainability issues and the value of biodiversity. |
