The Rainbow Hub (registered number 1182225)

Report of the Trustees

For the period 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025

Objectives and Activities

The objectives of the charity are:

  1. To promote for the public benefit equality and diversity and the elimination of

discrimination in relation to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGTBQ+)

persons by:

  1. Raising awareness of issues affecting said persons

  2. Operating as a volunteer led drop-in centre for:

  3. The provision of information, about and signposting to LGTBQ+ specific services.

  4. The provision of information about general services to LGTBQ+ people

  5. Hate Crime reporting desk for Brighton and Hove

Public Benefit

The Trustees confirm that they have given due consideration to the Charity Commission published

guidance on the public benefit requirement under the Charities act 2011.

During the period of review the charity has tried to continue to recruit unpaid volunteers to be trained to deliver the services outlined within the context of Brighton and Hove, and the surrounding areas, as well as preparing the office space in a way that preserves individual confidentiality along with both volunteer and service user safety. Sadly there is definitely a shortage of volunteers these days which if continues could lead to the closure of the Charity in the coming year.

Initial funding came from The Rainbow Fund (registered number 1181116) when it was originally set up the last couple of years we have had additional funding from grants by Brighton and Hove City Council.

Achievements and Performance

Sadly this has been a super tough year for the Rainbow Hub – we moved into the Ledward Centre to become more accessible in Brighton city centre to hep with our Hate Crime desk - - the Ledward sadly hit many hurdles and has now closed down – which means we have now lost our home – it was also a major struggle to recruit volunteers and trustees so we will have to make the sad decision to close down – we are currently in communication with Brighton council in regards to the remaining funds we have left from their grant to us – once this is resolved we shall cease running and declare our closure to the charities commission.
