March **2012** **TAR** 3 ## Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main** The year ending June 2025 represented a remarkable period of growth **achievements of the charity** and progress across all areas of the charity's work, underpinned by the **during the year** continued generosity and dedication of the wider Sikh community. In education, the charity maintained consistent delivery of its weekly learning programme at May Park Primary School, providing close to 100 young people with structured teaching in Sikh studies, Gurmukhi language, scriptural studies, Sikh philosophy, and martial arts. The programme continued to grow in its depth and impact, offering young people a meaningful connection to their faith, language, and cultural heritage. A notable achievement this year was the introduction of formal Indian classical music training for a number of students, directly advancing the charity's object of providing training in classical and contemporary Indian musical arts in accordance with Sikh teachings, and further enriching the educational experience offered to the community's young people. The Sikh Community Kitchen (Langar) continued to operate throughout the year, providing free nutritious meals to all who attended regardless of background or circumstance. The Langar remains one of the charity's most visible expressions of the Sikh values of equality, humility, and selfless service, and its continued operation throughout the year is a testament to the commitment of the charity's volunteers and supporters. The most significant achievement of the year was the successful progression of the charity's permanent community hub project. Following an extensive period of consultation, the commissioning of environmental, noise pollution, and asbestos assessments, and engagement with the relevant planning authorities, the charity secured the necessary planning permission — a milestone that represented the culmination of considerable effort and dedication from trustees, advisers, and the wider community. Construction commenced in January 2025, with all groundworks completed by June and the steel structure for the hub well underway, marking a truly historic moment in the charity's development. The building is expected to be fully complete by July 2026, at which point the charity will for the first time have a permanent and purpose-built home from which to serve the community. Supporting this construction programme, the year saw a significant surge in fundraising activity, with the community rallying behind the hub project with exceptional generosity. This collective commitment has not only enabled the construction to progress but has demonstrated the depth of support for the charity's long-term vision of a permanent home from which it can advance Sikh values, education, and community service for generations to come. The trustees are deeply grateful for the continued generosity, faith, and dedication of all who have supported the charity during the year and look forward to building on this momentum as the community hub project moves towards completion.
