The Church has a integral role in the lives of the community it sits in. The world has had to change in the face of another epidemic, since the 1964 Spanish Flu. We have seen the loss of many of loved ones, friends, relatives, spouses, brothers, sisters and the separation of friends. The pandemic has impacted everyone, from the youngest to the eldest We have seen Sir Captain Moore walk 100 laps to mark his 100th birthday to raise funds to help save lives and all in the name of charity, then to see his life taken from him by Covid-19. On the 25th May 2020 in the midst of lockdown, a young man's death was viewed world wide, crying, 'I can't breath'. As millions looked upon this traumatic scene. The crowd was moved. Black, Asian, White, young and old,

The world, came together to demand justice, because enough was enough! What united a nation? Injustice. Does this mean that God is no longer in control. No it is the very opposite. Without Walls Community Church, is new to the community it sits in. In Matthew 26:11, we are reminded how to treat people in need. Many people have jobs but they are suffering financially, mentally, emotionally and physically. When Christ Jesus walked this earth, his purpose was clear, we must do His will and to give as He gave! I am challenging the Church, going forward to work as Jesus did. Giving comes in many forms, through giving your time, giving food to the poor and bringing people together, to laugh, to play, to sing, to befriend and encourage others outside of their friendship zones.

Children's Church is a passion of mine and with Covid-19, this ministry came to a 'stand still'. Which led us to redirecting our efforts to put some work into this important ministry. The Church sits comfortably within the Community of Matchborough which has mixed typed homes, private and council owned with a mixture of young and the elderly.

The ministry has been affected by Covid-19 as a new church sitting in the midst of a large housing estate, we were preparing to welcome the children and young people

into a learning environment to help them develop not only in their every day lives but to understand what is expected of them when they are at school, at home or outside of their parent's watchful eyes. We aim to come out of our comfort zone as we are reminded to teach the children the way so that they will grow with understanding of how to transition from children to adults. Good foundations are for life. In Mark 10:14 we are reminded to allow children to learn Godly ways as it will be a benefit to them. This is my desire for all children.

## THE POST COVID CHURCH

For some time now the Church have seemed to ignore the subtle changes in society, the community, technology and its ability to reach today's people. The early church reached the people in a very traditional face to face way, because at that time, you could do that, but not anymore, it is not business as usual.

The pandemic has taught us some serious lessons around evangelism and meeting the needs of people. Moving forward! we will be challenging ourselves as a Church to focus on God's design and plan for mankind. It was never God's plan to allow individuals/families to suffer. John 10:10 is the key to moving the ministry forward. What can we do as a Church to ensure that we minister to the community around us, both physically and through using various mediums.

## TIME FOR CHANGE

## A word from the Trustees

.Since our last Annual Report and moving into new premises as a growing church, we have learnt that growth comes from within and that God is teaching us to first deal with ourselves so that we can love others. We have had battles, we have seen growth and lost some people along the way. But we have learnt that religion and traditional is a hinderance to all people. We are learning not to block the way for others to know God for themselves and that means change. Change has not come without a price. We were blessed to receive payment breaks to help us settle in the new building.

The Church is focusing on personal growth as well as spiritual growth. Each of us have had to look at the gifts that God has given us.

So what is the focus for moving forward? We believe that our growth must come from doing the will of God and working as Jesus worked when He came to earth. To get back to the original purpose and plan of God for mankind as written in Matthew 28. Post Covid19 is the future going forward. The church will be managed, biblically. We should be good stewards and taking responsibility in do our work to encourage the local community and online listeners with the tools for them to learn about God for themselves so that people will understand that God is not about religion but is all about 'truth'. To conclude we have a new Trustee specialising in Counselling, Dominique Cole

A young soul was baptized last year August and is supported by his family.

Covid-19 bought about many changes which saw our physical gatherings and fellowship bought to gathering online and into the social media platform.

## THE WAY FORWARD

Although the past year has been difficult for everyone, not one person has not been affected by the change Covid-19 has bought. However as a church, we have learnt some good lessons and recognise that the church needs to return to its original purpose.

The church as seen some changes with the main services being held virtually, however despite this, the members have been faithful. However virtual services are not for everyone. We welcome new members and their families, Winsome and Nicola & David and family. last year August, Joshua-Nathan, took the step to ask for baptism and after careful examination to check his understanding of this great step, he was baptised at Smallheath Church in Birmingham. The members through various teachings have been challenged to look beyond the walls of the church to open the doors to providing for the communities need.

The community needs are vast and although we recognise that we cannot meet every need, we do have an obligation as a church to give as Jesus gave to the community he dwelt amongst. The church is being challenged to come out of its comfort zone and reach out to the community and include people who may not know how to find the peace that only God can give to them. The church is being challenged to reach out, not only through evangelism, but to reach those who also have practical needs as Jesus did. To commence this, our Officers are DBS checked and undertaking Safeguarding Courses and have practical policies in place and all officers are encouraged to operate with a culture of transparency.

## SUMMARY OF 2020-2021 PERFORMANCE

## FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

**Despite having to close our physical doors for almost 16 months, we have endured through hardship and have seen a growth in fellowship, commitment and improvements in other areas. As a Church we are optimistic in post Covid-19 times that we will progress to greater things and work together as a Church to pursue the aims and objectives of the charity and to work as a team to encourage growth so that we can work with families in the local community in line with the great commission. Luke 6:38.**

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of**

## **(BETHEL UNITED) - WITHOUT WALLS COMMUNITY MINISTRIES**

## **For the year ended 31 March 2020**

I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2020.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees (who are also the directors for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.

The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act)) and that an independent examination is required. The charity's gross income exceeded £25,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of FCCA.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under Section 43 of the 1993 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act); and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of the independent examiner's report**

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view ' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statements below.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements

- to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements of Sections 394 and 395 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
