The purpose of Llandudno Junction Playgroup

Our purpose is to give all children the best start in life by providing a service which will promote child development. We provide high quality, affordable childcare for parents that enhances the development, care and education of all preschool children in a safe and stimulating environment, where children can learn through play.

Our Values

The Charities core values guild our work.

The children are always put first to enhance the quality of our childcare. We welcome all children from our local community as every child has the right and opportunity to learn and develop through play.

Our group promotes and delivers access to flexible and high, quality childcare

Provision run by fully qualified staff. Staff are given opportunities to access training to further develop their skills and to ensure the quality of teaching is maintained and enhanced.

We also as a childcare setting have a core belief that all parents are the first and foremost educators of their children. We encourage parent committees so to empower parents and give them a greater involvement in the childcare provided.

Achievement’s

The setting is now set out to develop the children’s learning through the new guidelines from the Welsh government curriculum for the pathways. Our advisory teacher has brought other groups into our setting to view the classroom to gain knowledge on how to promote the new pathways curriculum within the classroom. Teachers within the school have also been to view our classroom to gain ideas on how to develop their own classrooms.

Its groups second year being registered with flying start and due to an increase in parents wanting a place for their child we have been open an extra session in the afternoon so all children will have a place in group without having to go on a waiting list.

Group had their joint Estyn and CIW inspection on January 21[st] and 22[nd] . Group did extremely well getting a good in all areas, with lots of positive feedback and praise from the inspectors.

Staff have successfully attended courses on

Two staff members have successfully completed the Eklan course and from this one staff member is now the speech and language ambassador for group.

Group has been awarded a five star food hygiene certificate by Conwy county council after an un announced inspection on 10[th] June.

Risks and uncertainties

As a charity that looks after children the trustees recognise that the main risk would be injury or death to any of the children whilst in the care of the group. Risk assessments are in place to manage any risks. Staff are first aid trained, full risk assessments are in place and kept up to date and insurance policies are in place and kept up to date.

We still feel as a group we are not promoted fairly by the school, even with advertising a lot of people still don’t know we are here. We have purchased a large banner advertising group which is displayed on our wall outside group. Group has had photographs taken to put on to the school website.

Plans for the future

To promote group in a successful way for us to grow and develop in the school setting.

To further develop the Welsh language into sessions and for all staff to enrol on the Camu course.

To strengthen links with parents and how to work together to support their child’s learning at home.

To gain new committee members.

Policies and procedures

We have full cover on policies, procedures and risk assessments that are in line with the requirements of Care Inspectorate Wales. Regular policy, procedure and risk assessment reviews take place to ensure that Llandudno Junction Playgroup meets its goals and requirements. All staff have to read and sign the polices to confirm they have read and understood each one.
