Chairman’s report Year ended 31 October 2021

Welcome all to this AGM.

May I first outline outline the purpose and progress of the Trust and the Scheme it supports.

History and Role:

The scheme started in 2014 and during the first few years it was managed by a previous Trustee and it was incorporated as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in February 2019 and become the Wolds Community First Responders. This was mainly to remove the risk of members being liable for the groups actions.

The Trust supports the work of the Wolds CFR Group.

The role is to provide first on scene life support on behalf on EMAS.

All CFR’s are fully trained by EMAS and carry an NHS-EMAS ID, It costs over £1,000 to set up a new CFR with uniform and kit.

The group support local fund raising events with first aid support and also provide public training for CPR, stroke awareness and AED familiarisation.

The CFRTeam:

We currently have five fully trained CFR’s, one new recruit is due for training and two are going through the application process .

There is currently one non-CFR who supports the scheme.(Secretary, Heather Storer). We are seeking one or two none CFR Trustees and I am progressing this.

Financial Management:

We are currently in a sound financial situation but this may change next year if we have to purchase/lease a car and more uniforms and kit will need to be supplied.

There is also the possible question of replacing the village AED’s. (This would need to be a public donation element).

I would at this point like to thank Howard Cox for his continued support and vigilance as our Treasurer but also for keeping on top of the Charities Commission relationship.

Hours and Allocations:

Since the scheme started in 2014 we have provided over 8,000 volunteer hours to the community and been allocated to over 1,200 Jobs. We are proud to say that lives have been saved and lives changed.

CFR Car :

The donated CFR car is used by three of the CFR’s at present . It is not an EMAS allocated lease car. It was donated to the scheme and costs are covered by mileage claims from EMAS.

We will need to consider the lease of a new car in the new year. # EMAS offer ex-fleet cars which are already liveried. These will cost about £2/3,000 per year.

We will need to carry out a feasibly study.

Facebook Page:

I am pleased to report that the Wolds CFR Facebook page is up and running again thanks to Linda Taylor. Linda had agreed to oversea the page and ‘Post’ relevant and important CFR information.

Wymeswold AED’s :

Management of local village (Wymeswold) AED’s is done by the scheme and income and expenditure is shown in the accounts. Management takes into account monthly checks by the Group Coordinator. There is separate local funding for the AED’s.

The checking details go to the National network Circuit and Heartwize.

We will need to address the question of replacements and a funding campaign in the new year.

Covid19 :

The Covid pandemic which saw a lockdown in March 2020 has grounded all the working CFR’s and three left the scheme for either health or location reasons. # We are now back on full front line duties.

Admission of Members:

This AGM will see the recent appointment of three new members to the Trust and it is important that some of these do become Trustees to ensure we are quorate for future meetings.

Thank you each of you for your commitment to this most important job.
