In the year to 31.3.24 we connued to provide services for our members by way of lunch club, entertainments, tai chi, and a few trips out. We provide transport using an adapted minibus. Whilst the increasing cost of electricity, fuel and food is an increasing concern, we are fortunate to have been in receipt of several grants and donaons to cover our increased costs. In this year we have been able to add an electric retracng side door step to our adapted minibus.
volunteers. We would like to thank them for their connued hard work and acknowledge the difference they make to the members with their cheerful approach. We received a 5 (top score) for food hygiene rang from Environmental Health.
Southbourne & District Age Concern has no regular source of income and is reliant on donaons and grants in order to connue to provide services to the members.
We have received donaons from private individuals who we thank hearly. We were also in receipt in the year of generous donaons from local organisaons; Southbourne Football Club and Prinsted Residents Carol Service. We have also received donaons in memory of previous members, from their friends and families.
This year we had a trip to the theatre to watch The Sound of Music, a coronaon party and our usual Christmas Dinner, which were all greatly enjoyed by the members.
We received several grants towards our running costs, for which we are extremely grateful. We have received grants from the Allen Lane Foundaon and the Sussex Community Fund. We are in receipt of a grant from The Yapp Charitable Trust paid over three years. Without these grants we could not provide our services to the members and wish to thank these organisaons.
We have received a large donaon from one individual which was matched by Brish American Tobacco, towards the purchase of a defibrillator, which will be placed outside of the centre within easy reach of not just the users of the Age Concern centre, but also the members of the Southbourne Men’s Shed, Southbourne Club and the school run public that pass by our building going to and from Southbourne Primary Schools. We hope to soon have sufficient funding to install the defibrillator.
Southbourne & District Age Concern does not make grants.
