## **TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[th] June 2024**
Our Only World first started their activities in July 2018. We became a Registered Charity in February 2019. Registered No. 1182056.
Our main aim is to promote marine conservation, specifically reducing marine plastic pollution. We have had a successful year with our four projects.
Our water refill station project has progressed, we have sold a further 8 units this financial year. We hope to attract more customers from further afield and are helped by being listed by Sea-Changers as an approved supplier. They offer customers grants toward the cost of the unit. We continue to work with local designers, plumbing, roto moulders and steel engineering companies. Our Cornwall Council grant has finished; however, we were awarded a private donation of £35,000 and separately a £10,000 grant towards our core costs.
Our Harbour walls project was inspired by Living Sea Walls Australia. The main aim of this project is to increase marine biodiversity. The first site at Plymouth has been installed in August 2023 and we have now completed Mevagissey, and Falmouth. We have funding for Newquay, Port Isaac, and Padstow.
The children’s book is designed to educate on the issue of plastic pollution. The unique selling point is it is ‘written by children for children.’ We have now an edition with widgit signs showing our commitment to inclusivity. We also have a new book about plastic pollution on land, all produced by Beth Boon one of our trustees.
Looking forward, our overheads are increasing as we are growing. We are incurring greater costs for website, marketing and social media. Despite this, we aim to fund further marine conservation projects in the future.

## **FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE 12 MONTHS TO 30/6/24**
## **NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS**
These accounts have been prepared on the receipts and payments basis.
1. We received a large donation from a Trust fund. This has helped us to seed fund more water refill stations, assisting sites in Essex, Weston super Mare and Penzance.
2. Funding for our seAlive tiles has allowed us to embark on the planning stage of Newquay and Padstow harbours.
3. We have been successful in a grant of £10,000 for our core costs from Garfield Weston. This is for our social media costs, insurance, and travel.
4. The final payment of £2,053 from the Community Infrastructure Levy Fund with Cornwall Council was received. Overall, this enabled us to site 13 units in total with this grant.
5. We received funds of £3820 to link STEM subjects to our seAlive project. We have organised two public events in conjunction with Plymouth University and we have another planned in the National Aquarium in July 2024
6. This is the final payment for our EDP grant.
7. We sold 8 Aqua taps.
8. This is the sale of our Yikesy book. Although the charity does not make any profit from this project at present, we feel it’s vital to reach school children and this book is one of the ways we can do this.
9. This is the cost of the tiles and installation in Mevagissey, tiles for Port Isaac and our informational video.
10. This is the manufacturing cost of our Aqua taps.
11. We are at the final stage of testing our new prototype. We aim to replace the bulk of the stainless steel in our floor mounted unit with recycled plastic. This has the benefit of reducing its cost and carbon footprint.
12. We have reached the prototype stage of a new mobile unit. This has to go for WRAS testing i.e. public water quality testing. Then we can start to market the unit.
13. This cost is the cost of siting units where we were holding specific funds designated for that purpose.
14. The cost to date of connecting our seAlive project to STEM (science, technology, engineering maths) subjects. The bulk of this is a purchase of a small 3D printer, to show engineering links.
15. Approximately 4 months of this cost has been covered by our Garfield Weston grant in note 3.
16. Cost of our song project, for the final costs or our UK song and video and two videos in Mexico and USA.
17. We have produced two children’s books, one has widgit signs for children who don’t read text, and the other is about marine plastic pollution on land.
18. Miscellaneous costs include subscriptions, travel, and service of one of our Wadebridge units.
19. The charity has donated to marine life surveys in Cornwall.
20. The charity has repaid the private loan of £12,000.
21. This is our bank balance at 30/6/24.
