|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|In 2024, we continued to expand and develop<br>the activities of the Romsey Chamber Music<br>Festival (RCMF)<br>Our mini-Winter Festival saw two concerts in<br>Romsey and a fundraising concert in London. We<br>also delivered another highly successful series of<br>school concerts, bringing live chamber music to<br>young audiences as well as coaching sessions<br>and side-by-side playing opportunities for young<br>musicians.<br>The summer festival, titled 'Of Love and<br>Madness,' took place in June, featuring 12<br>events across 7 days in venues throughout the<br>Test Valley. The theme explored the boundaries<br>between love and insanity, with a diverse<br>selection of composers. Our programming<br>featured seven new works, including four world<br>premieres, alongside well-loved masterpieces.<br>We welcomed outstanding musicians from<br>across Europe. Highlights included a sold-out<br>dawn recital on the River Test, an intimate<br>performance of Schubert’s_Die Schöne Müllerin_<br>by baritone Thomas Guthrie, a late-night<br>performance of Schoenberg’s_Verklärte Nacht_<br>_and_Jennifer Higdon’s_Love Sweet_.<br>Educational and outreach work included<br>performances by young local musicians side-by-<br>side with festival artists, a public masterclass for<br>young string players, including BBC Young<br>Musician competitor Rose Gosney, a school trip<br>to_Die Schöne Müllerin,_a children’s choir<br>workshop which introduced local children to<br>global rhythms and a family concert under our<br>pay-as-you-wish model.<br>The festival continued to attract a dedicated<br>local audience while also drawing visitors from<br>across the UK and Europe, reinforcing RCMF’s<br>growing international reputation, reflected in<br>strong press coverage, which praised the<br>festival’s ambitious programming and<br>commitment to accessibility.|
