## **Friends of Nuall Park Chair’s Report for the year ending 31[st] December 2021**

2021 started with a zoom meeng and a Takeaway system due to Covid19 restricons but the **Base Tea Room** is back in acon now and, when the weather is fine, is very successful in raising donaons to be used in the park along with serving as a community meeng place. People are quite happy to sit and chat outside on a fine day and we are hoping to extend the pao which will also benefit any events where gazebos can be erected near to the Base on solid ground.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed in any way and it is wonderful to have new volunteers helping to welcome visitors to the park.

– **Tennis Court Upgrade** Bury Council and the LTA upgraded the tennis courts in February and they are now kept solely for tennis so remain in very good condion. The courts are booked via a website and have proved very popular even on cooler days.

Our **Task Days** have been very beneficial with drain and paths’ clearing being a priority. The Base and toilets are kept clean inside and out and we are very grateful to those who open and close the toilets and keep them clean. We have applied for a grant from One Community Bury to refurbish the toilets which will include new flooring, steel toilets, some internal walls, new locks and seals to the doors including the outside storeroom door.

The **Gardening Group** are on their winter break aer another busy year which included installing a rope boundary for the Prairie Bed and commissioning a beauful Wildflower Sign designed by K Davis. The Plant Bring & Buy Sale was again very successful and added to our funds.

Kate has rered aer many years as leader of the group but she will sll serve on the commiee and connue to help with gardening.

A presentaon was made to her in November and we wish her beer health in the future.

Steve has taken on the role and we hope he will enjoy this important job.

Thank you to all the volunteers who help the Gardening Group and keep Nuall Park admired by all.

**Love Your Park Week** in August culminated in a Family Fun Day along with Ramsboom Rotary Club.

It was a successful day with children’s games, a small fun fair, BBQ & bar, RammyRocks, ice cream van, cake stall, Rossendale Ukelele Band and Lee Grant singing. The children’s games went down a treat parcularly the stocks with wet sponges.

Thank you to all those who joined in and helped to organise a great aernoon in the park.

We have connued to add to facilies in Nuall Park. Visitors’ donaons and £481:50 from Ian Schofield at the end of his period as a Local Councillor helped us to install two accessible picnic benches on flags and they have been used a lot during the year. In September the Plant & Produce Stall outside the Base raised money for Macmillan with the Tea Room takings being added to FofNP funds. We also received a donaon of £200 from the Ramsboom Black Pudding Lobbing Compeon along with a bubble machine which children have enjoyed outside the Base.

A different **Lantern Parade** was organised this year and it was very successful. There was soup, hot food, drinks and decorated cupcakes. Many people dressed up and children brought their decorated pumpkins to join the spooky Lantern Parade around the park once it was dark. Thank you to all those who organised, provided cakes etc. or helped in any way to provide another wonderful Friends of Nuall Park event.

**Santa** visited Nuall Park on Saturday 11[th] December but rain meant that there were not many visitors and he only visited once this year. The Grinch’s visit was also limited by the weather and we enjoyed being entertained by RammyMen’s choir The Ramshackle Wailers, who sang Christmas Carols outside the Base in December.

The **Seasonal ‘Crain a Bag’** event was very successful over two days and was carried out in line with Covid19 guidelines outside.

It was very popular with a lucky dip tree and pieces to take home in a bag to make a reindeer or snowman etc. Thank you to all those who organised or were involved in this original event and for all their hard work.

The **Bandstand** plans have met many holdups and the rise in steel prices has been a bier blow. A steel fabricator has been appointed and the decorave elements have been ordered and hopefully the project will now be able to progress. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to this project and for your support and perseverance.

Life is sll unpredictable at present and again I am hoping we will be able to organise bands in the park soon along with a celebraon of the Queen’s Planum Jubilee in June. It would be wonderful to have a completed bandstand to open officially sat the same me so - fingers crossed!

Regardless of the changes, Friends of Nuall Park have again worked hard to support a facility which is appreciated by the Community. The comments and donaons we receive show how much our work is valued and I cannot thank everyone involved enough for the me and effort you put in in such a variety of ways.
