The trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and accounts for the year ended 31st March 2025 

## **Structure, governance and management** 

The organisation is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated and registered as a charity on 7th February 2019. 

The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the charity and is governed under its Articles of Association. 

The chair of trustees, who is the trustee for the purpose of charity law, who served during the year and up to the date of this report is set out on page 1. 

## **Objects** 

The objects of the charity are: 

The advancement of the Orthodox Christian Religion in general and through the establishment and furtherance of a parish in the City of Durham. 

The main activities pertain to the advancement of the Orthodox Christian Religion in general and through the 

establishment and furtherance of a parish in the City of Durham, by way of regular liturgical worship and the 

refurbishment of the new Church building. 

## **Financial review** 

Total incoming resources for the year amounted to £66,150 (2024 £97,136), with total resources expended of £21,511 (2024 £68,256), resulting in net  profit of £44,639 (2024 £28,880). 

This report has been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice - Accounting and Reporting by Charities (FRS 102), taking advantage of the concessions provided by the SORP for smaller charities, and in accordance with the provisions for small companies under Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006. 

The report was approved by the board on 19th September 2025

**Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination. My examination included a review of the **examiner's statement**[accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts ] presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. 

I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material. respect: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to e able a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
