Structure and governance
The charity was created on 4th February 2019 and is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Objectives and activities
The charity was formed by the trustees Mr and Mrs Birshan as a grant-making charity, and makes grants to a variety of charities which come to the attention of the trustees.
Public beneft statement
The trustees declare that they have complied with the duty to ensure that activities follow the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Achievements and performance
In 2025, the charity has made grants throughout the year to a range of charities and causes. In 2025 the majority of donations were towards causes which improve the wellbeing of women, children and families in the UK, and charities which support education and the arts in the UK.
No trustee receives remuneration or reimbursement of expenses. The charity’s only administration cost is the annual Independent Examination of accounts.
Speculative applications to the charity are unlikely to be successful.
Sources of Income
The charity was funded by Mrs Birshan personally, plus a donation from Google UK.
Financial overview
At the end of the 2025 financial year, the charity had reserves of £26,584 (2024 £22,821) which will be used for grants in future years. There is no reserves policy.

Michael Birshan
Sophie Birshan is also a trustee of The Nina and Roger Stewart Charitable Trust, and in 2025 she was also a trustee of The Wallace Collection (a charity exempt from registration under the Charities Act 2011).
Michael Birshan is also a governor at The British Film Institute, and a member of the council at the Royal College of Art (an exempt charity).

THE BIRSHAN CHARITABLE TRUST Independent examinerfs report to the Trustees of The Birshan Charitable Trust I report lo the trustees on my examination of the Receipts and Payments Accounts of The Birshan Charitable Trust (the Trust) for the year ended 315t December 2025 which are set oul on pages 110 2. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act'i. I report in respect of my examination of the Trustee's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Chariiy Commission under section 145(51{b} of the 2011 Act. Independent examinerfs statement I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect.. {1 } accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act., or (21 the accounts do not accord with those records. I have no concems and have come a¢ross no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding ofthe accounts to be reached.
