## **Annual Return Summary – Portsmouth City Council Care Leavers Trust (Flying Solo) 2021 - 2022** 

## **Charity purpose:** 

The Trust supports care-experienced young adults in Portsmouth as they move toward independent living. It provides small grants, wellbeing support, and opportunities that help young people build stability, confidence, and positive life outcomes. 

## **Activities during the year:** 

The charity continued to offer financial assistance and practical support to care leavers. Restricted funds were used to provide grants for essential items and activities, while unrestricted donations covered organisational and publicity costs. 

## **Public benefit:** 

All activities were carried out to support care-experienced young people, and the trustees confirm they have complied with the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance. 

## **Income and expenditure:** 

Total income for the year was **£2,607** , all from unrestricted donations. Total expenditure was **£2,939** , including **£552** on organisational costs and **£2,387** on grants and activities for care leavers. 

This resulted in a net deficit of **£332** . 

## **Financial position at year-end:** 

The charity held **£5,180** in cash at bank and had no liabilities. Unrestricted funds totalled **£4,473** , and restricted funds totalled **£707** . 

## **Reserves:** 

The Trust aims to maintain sufficient reserves to meet future grant commitments and ensure continuity of support for care leavers. 

## **Trustees:** 

The charity is run entirely by volunteer trustees who receive no remuneration.
