Cylch Meithrin Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant

Charity No 1181799

Trustees Report for the year ending 31[st] March 2022

We present our annual report and accounts for the year ended 05/04/2022 to comply with requirements of the Charity Act 2011.

Our Aims

The aim of Cylch Meithrin is to offer early years education for pre-school children from the ages of 2-5, in a bilingual setting. We encourage the use of Welsh medium through play, language, music and literacy.

Our Objectives

The Cylch’s objective is to provide children with experiences that help develop their imagination, awareness and understanding of themselves, others their locality and the wider world. Cylch encourages children to grow their language and communication, personal and social development, creativeness, mathematical development, understanding of the greater world and their physical development, using a variety of aids such as; role-play, craft, walks, bikes, blocks, sensory items, books, music. Cylch provides children with ever changing activities and outdoor area to promote learning, understanding, compassion and growth. This year we have developed “our vision”, which is shared with all who visit/use/communicate with us; we advocate “A safe, happy Cylch where children can develop their independence, confidence and relationships through fun, positive experiences”.

Future Plans

Cylch have been lucky enough to have received considerable funds from the Welsh Government over the past year again, and we have invested heavily in outdoor learning/play; we have a member of staff qualified as NVQ3 Forest School Leader now. We plan to keep building our forest school area, and hope to incorporate more trips. We have improved our insetting library and send books home with children to encourage skill. The children will also have access to a greenhouse in 2022/23.

Finance Summary

During 2021-22 cylch finished the academic year with 16 pupils attending, 7 of these accessed the Childcare for Wales hours. The local authority Early Years Education funding was £14790, with extra funds coming from the Childcare for Wales hours of £11410. Cylch received various grants totalling nearly £4650 and with donations, uniform sales, fees from 2-yearolds and fundraising the total income for the year was £40819. Total outgoings were £36405, our largest expense always being wages. The bank showed £11750 at the year-end; a great increase for us.

During the next year, Cylch will carry on with the Childcare for Wales hours, which encourages children to stay within Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant for schooling, and gives Cylch a positive role within the community. Cylch will be at capacity for funded 3-year-olds for this coming school year. Cylch enjoys organising fun events for fundraising and awareness so hope to do more events. The 3-year financial plan is looking steady.
