Para 1.20 | Our Charitable Actvites In Lionistc Year 2023-2024 Helped at vaccinaton centres in Staford started February 2021 and fnished January 2023, over 5,400 hours volunteered. £100 each per month to a Staford Food Bank and the Salvaton Army. Recycling spectacles and hearing aids, telephones and metal. Monthly stewarding at St. Mary’s Grade 1 listed church in Staford. Loan of wheelchairs. Food Collecton on the Wildwood Estate. Funded 7 partally- sighted children to visit Lower Drayton Farm. Helped at Sandon Village Fete. Marshalled at the Conquer Cannock Chase Charity 10k event. Organised an Adult Carers Party. Held a Charity Fashion Show. Ran the Derrington Charity Race Night. Staford cleaned the Lions Shelter at the Natonal memorial Arboretum. Sponsored kit man from Staford Rangers Football Club. Bought a desk for a young student. Donatons to ‘Mum’s Walk Charity Appeal’. Some Lions atend a fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance. Wreath for Remembrance Sunday £50. Pumpkin gleaning. Christmas Tree Festval own tree (£50) plus marshalling at the event. 21 food bags for young carers. Baswich Food Collecton. Pledged £250 to ‘Happy Days’ for their show for Special Needs children. Lions MD Youth Trust donaton £120. £136 for the District Youth Fund. 5 Lions visited Rimbach Weschnitztal Lions (in Germany). Very successful fundraiser for free PSA Testng raising £1694.22 (with Gif Aid to come later in the year). Pledged £200 to St. |
John Ambulance. Our first ever PSA Prostate Awareness Testing Afternoon. 229 blood samples taken 8 Red Letters/11 Amber Letters. Loaned out 2 wheelchairs. Pledged to fund the community concert for the Weaving Dreams Festival. £100 donation to LCIF Brazilian Flood Appeal. Donation to Brain Tumour Trust. (DG’s Partner’s Appeal). Helped at a Primary Care Network to run a wellbeing event. We recycle spectacles and hearing aids. We supply ‘Message in a Bottle’ equipment, ‘Plugsters’ for arthritis sufferers, and ‘Aspods’ to carry dispersible aspirin. We went ‘gleaning’ for pumpkins which we gave to the ‘Fairshare’ Charity. Fundraising: Our normal fundraising mainly takes place in November to December when we do bucket collections accompanied by Santa’s Elves and a Lion in supermarkets and shopping areas in Stafford. We also raise money through delivering a local directory on a monthly basis. Food: We hold annual food collections in January and July. The food was distributed to a local Foodbank.
