Broadstairs Surf Life Saving Club is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered on 28 January 2019. The club has trustees who are normally appointed at annual general meetings. One-third of the charity trustees retire from office at each annual general meeting with the vacancies so arising filled by the decision of the members. Proceedings of the club are managed by a committee with the committee roles also being elected at the annual general meeting. The club has a constitution which was agreed on 25 January 2019.

Aims and objectives.

To promote water safety and teach lifesaving skills.

Summary of the main achievements during the period

The Broadstairs Surf Life Saving Club has continued to offer regular beach and water-based training to members during this year and also to offer recognised lifeguard courses. The club has established pool-based winter training this year to maintain year-round training options for its members. The Nipper Pathway programme for the club s younger members remains popular, particularly with the training extended to pool sessions following the summer season.

Independent Examiner s Report For the Broadstairs Surf Life Saving Club For the year ended 31[st] December 2022

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity.

As the charity s trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ( the Act ).

I report in respect of my examination of the accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

In accordance with the engagement letter, we have prepared for your approval the financial statements of the group for the year ended 31 December 2022 from the accounting records and from information and explanations you have given us.

As a practising member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), we are subject to its ethical and other professional requirements which are detailed acca.com/members handbook.

This report is made solely to you, in accordance with the terms of our engagement letter. Our work has been undertaken solely to prepare for your approval the financial statements of BSLSC and state those matters that we have agreed to you in this report in accordance with the guidance of ACCA. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the Board for our work or for this report. We have not carried out an audit.

You have approved the accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022 and have acknowledged your responsibility for them, for the appropriateness of the financial reporting framework adopted and for providing all information and explanations necessary for its compilation.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect, accounting records were not kept or that the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
