SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Club has given a number of nippers
opportunities to learn and develop their
skills in the sea and fitness and skills
training for a number of adult members.
We have supported visitors to Thanet in
enjoying the seaside in a safe manner
through our Beach Warden Patrols, helping
reduce the load on other voluntary services
such as the Coastguard and RNLI rescue
services.

Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 The Club successfully ran a nippers
programme of events in the summer of
2020. However, we were unable to run a
lifeguard course in 2020 owing to the
Covid-19 restrictions and requirements for
volunteer time.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 The club raised funds from applying for a
grant to Sport England to cover losses for
having to cancel and refund fees for a
lifeguard course owing to the Covid-19
restrictions.
Other funds were raised from membership
of child and adult members of the club.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The club is in a weaker position at the end
of the year than hoped for. The inability to
run a full season of events: Lifeguard
training courses, requalifications, club
activities led to lower income. However, we
have still been able to meet our outgoings.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 No reserves are held currently beyond
those required to meet outgoings of
affiliations, insurance, and vital equipment
to undertake beach activities, such as first
aid consumable equipment.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 n/a
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 n/a
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 We are reliant on income to pay for
essentials such as insurance, equipment
repair and replacement (e.g. first aid
supplies) and this is reliant on being able to
offer a range of events for members. With
current restrictions this is making it harder
to undertake these activities and reducing
the income. With outgoings increasing in
price, we will have to have a successful
year of running events in 2021 to remain
viable into 2022.

lack of equipment may affect the numbers
we can let take part
Loss of coaches / trainers owing to other
commitments to work/family due to Covid-
