| Policy on grant making | Para 1.38 | Yes - Applicants for grants are required to submit evidence of financial need (social assistance/housing etc) and are interviewed by two trustees. A formula is applied to identify the percentage of fees to be covered by a grant to consider economic status and number of children and time associated with the charity. Grants for education (tutor support) have been made for the first time and require ongoing monitoring. |
Achievements and performance

Para 1.20 | During 2022/23 the charity received a growing number of requests for support from both existing and new families – a number with more than one child - to access football training and competition which provides them with both physical exercise but also with a structured and safe after-school environment. Efforts to work with other football organisations proved operational problematic and was discontinued however working through school networks (struggling with their own funding constraints) proved an efficient way to support larger numbers of children and is being developed. |

The need for the charity’s support to enable children to access good quality football training was evidenced through the increased demand for funds from new and existing families. The first requests for educational/tutoring support revealed the continued stretch on families financial means as well as the combined desire for achievement across both sport and education which is reflected in the families with which the charity works. |

| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | There is a consistent body of supporters of the charity and a regular calendar of fund raising events is taking shape to spread the load across the school year. Events include: a gala event deferred to 2024), a charity tournament at the end of the season, Easy fundraising donations (supported by purchases on Amazon) as well as some individual donations. A sponsored 5k run set up with a Paypal account proved to be a successful way of stretching support across the younger supporters and will most likely form a regular event. £9,917.31 was raised during the accounting year. |
Financial review
Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 At the end of the period – after some financial position at the end £14,238.16 was applied to grants we had of the period unutilised funds of £8,522.20 which was carried over to the next year (the financial year being out of alignment with the school year). The increase in the grant donation reflected the growing need for the charity’s
| support and has drawn attention to the need to increase fundraising activities. In previous years demand has tended to peak towards the end of the school year however increased awareness of the charity, matched with stricter deadlines for applications for support, has helped the charity to have more visibility about requests for funding and therefore to take steps to ensure that there is sufficient money available. |

The charity will continue to timetable fundraising events across the year however taking care not to overstretch the current donors. The gala dinner has been rescheduled for May 2024 and we intend to repeat the charity football tournaments and fun runs which are popular events. |
