a. Education and Training
The Society s Annual Meeting was held In June 2025. The meeiing attraded over 120 endovascular consultants.
trainees and allied medical piofes510nals. The programme ¢offlpri5ed presentations from guest speakers from
the USA. Italy, and thè Nethert3nds. ￿th aostract and poster presenlalions from endova5¢ular trainees in the
UK. The Souety award5 a prize for the besi Pfesenled abstrèct in ihe Aortic Prize Session and Peripheral PrEe
Session. as well as for the best posier presentation at the Annual Meeting.
A National Vascular Tr31ning Day was hekt pnor lo the Annual Meeiing for 36 junior endovascular trainees
comprisirig srnall case based ¢fiscussI<￿ groups and prac11￿1 hands-¢n training on endovas¢ular dewces.
The BSET Endovascular Training Course iyas herd in March 2025 for vascular and interv2nlional radiDlogy
trasnees. Attendees were taughl in small group sessions lo¢YLin9 al the finer points of endovascular treatment
alongside Jndustry who pro￿d￿ hands-oA praclical training on surgical dewces.
The BSET Training Courses and Annual Meeiing are wdl re￿Ve4 by attendees. particulady endova5cular
trainees. Feedback received Irom the Annual Meeting Indudes cA)mments that the programme mnlenl was of a
high 51andard." that the meeting Provides an excellent opportunlty to get up to date practice Inlortnalion and new
guidelilles.. and that rf allows indiwduals to focus on ongoing research and training for the benefit of pat￿nIs.
Attendees al the Society Training Courses found Ihal they were wem slru¢ture(I wrth opportunilies for peer
discussion offering the greatesl leaming value. In particular attendees found that the f3culty's expertise and the
presentations were of Ihe highest standard. oflenng insightful and welksttyctured content that was dinically
relevant.
The BSET Fellowship Programme was ao*ertised for 2025 and one Endovascular Training Fellowship ivas
appointed who will undertake a six month training posl at Manthesler Univefslty Hospital. The Training
Fellowship provides an opportunity for vascAJlar or intefftnlional radio109y trainee5 to acquire new or more
omplex end0Vas¢u￿r skills.

early-career researcher5 to access. The Pums>Priming Grant aims lo bridge this gap by providing funding for
preliminary data collection. feasibility studies. or specffic components of a larger research programme. These
funds nelp reapienls gather Ihe necessary evidence and mornentum needed lo secure more 5ub51anlial funding
Ir. the future. Two Research Pump Priming Grants were warded in 2025 to support research proiecis in the

and Acceptability on Clinical Outcomes sn lower limb endovascular intervention.. and Personalised Prediclioi of
Resten0515 Risk Through Integrated IVUS-Based Compulational Flow Dynami¢5 and Microfluidic Flow Svslem
Experimentation. The awardees ¥MII present the outcomes of their ￿searCh al a future Annual Meeting.
The GLO8ALSTAR (Global Collaborators on Advanced Stenl-Graft Techniques for Aneurysrn Repair) reg".s.:ry
an Industry-supported research initiative. was lavnched ￿￿th Ihe aim of c3Ptuiing comprehensive aata or.
complex endova5cular aneurysm repairs. The registry reported its inrtial results back In 2012, and Sin￿ thep, ,1
has significantly expanded its Scopè. GLOBALSTAR now indudes data from over 1.000 complex abdotylnal
aortic aneurysm IAAAI repairs. with follow-up dala extending up lo 10 years. This long-term data Is Inval￿aDIe 'o'
assessing the efficacy and durability of adVan￿d stent-graft iechniques in the managtsment of COTDlex
aneurysms. The project has benefited frorn patient involvernenvfeedback through the Sl George $ Vasc.. lar
patient adwsory group. The manusuipt wa5 published in the British Journal of Surgery. It Is hoped that
publication of the final dala wll wsrtivety in1luen￿ comrni5s¥)ning decisions w¢thin the NHS.

relationship betsveen Ihe S¢xieties. In the pa51 year. mutual engagement at BSIR and BSET CD.p.cil
meeting5, and presence at respective annual meetings has been wel received, ctslminaling in the 8SIR meets
BSET 'session at the BSIR Annual Scientific meeJThg in Liverpool in November 2025. This cr05s-pollinatioD of

a. Reserves policy
It was agreed lo increase the level of reserves lo ¢Jth)K to cover fv40 years, operab.ng costs Tn the light of
increasing costs. This wll allow BSET lo keep appfoximately 2 year5 annual operaiing costs In reserve. The
Trustees bwll continue lo asse5S the level of ￿seNe5 It requires and wll update Ihe wlicy rf it 15 felt its frnancTal
quirements have changed.
The fvnds of £104.OQO had been reinvested into the Shawbfook 12 month fixed rate saver a¢wur*t with an
interest of 4.8%. and it was agreed lo add up 10 a further £100K into this account. Consideration would be given
to investing the reSe￿e fvnds iftlo a charitable investment portfolio.

The Charlty is consjdered to pass the te51s set out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 8 of the Finanr£ Act
2010 and therefore it meets the definition of 3 tharilable company for UK corporation tax purposes.
Accordingly. the Charty is potential￿ exempl from taxation ift respecl of income Dr capital gains
received within ¢alegories covered by Chapier 3 Part 11 of the Coworation Tax kn 2010 or Section
256 of the Taxalion of Chargeable Gain$ Act 1992. to the extent that such income or gains afe
