The Trustees present their annual report together V￿th Ihe financial statements of the Charity for the year 1
Febnjary 2024 to 31 January 2025.
Oblectlves and activities
a. Pollcies and objectives
The British Society of Endovascular Therap￿S primary role is to promote the best in research. training, education
and clinical practice for the benefft of people medical conditrons tho could potentially be helped by
endovascular therapies.
It achieves this wth the fdlowng aims..
1) to advance health by promoting scientific research. education and training in endovascular treatment and
procedures,. and
21 to advan￿ the education of the wblic and pa￿Cula￿Y amongst health professionals in endovascular
treatment and procedures
The Society continues its commitment to improving the qualty of endovascular surgery in the UK through its
training courses, Annual Meets"ng, and Training and Research Feifowships.
The BSET meeting is the only dedicated UK meeting for the presentation of endovascular research.
Its unique fomial encourages high level discussion and participation and the meeting faculty attracts the world's
leading endovascular spectalists.
The Society's trustees have complied ￿ the duty in sects.on 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to
Public Benefft guidance published by the Charity Commission.
Achievements and performance
a. Educatlon and Tralning
The Sociews Annual Meeting was held in June 2024. The meeting attracted over 120 endovascular consultants,
trainees and allied medical professionals. The prcKJramme comprised presentations from guest speakers from
the USA, Italy, and the Netherfands, with abstract and poster presentations from endovascular trainees in the
UK. The Society awards a prize for the best presented abstract in the Aortic Prize Session and Peripheral Pr¢ze
Session. as well as for the best poster presentatson al the Annual Meeting.
A National Vascular Training Day was hekl p￿r to the Annual Meeting for 36 junh?r endovaseular trainees
comprising srnall case based discussion groups and pfdth.cal hands-on training on endovascular devices.
The BSET Endovasujlar Training G￿r5e was held in March 2024 for senior vascular and interventional
radiolc%Jy trainees. Attendees were taught in small group sessions looking at the finer points of endovascular
treatment alongside industrystho provided hands-on prath.cal training on surgical dewces.
The BSET Training Courses and Annual Meeting are well received by attendees. particulady endovascular
trainees. Feedback received from the Annual Meeting includes comments that the programme content was of a
high standard,. Ihal the meeting provides an excellent opportunity to get up to date practice infomialion and new
guidelines.. and that it allows individuals to focus on ongoing research and training for the benefit of patients.
Attendees at the Society Training Courses found that they were well structured with opportunities for peer
discussion offering the greatest leaming value. In particular, attendees found that the facultys expertise and the
presentations were of the h￿he$l standard. offering insighfful and well-stnjclured content that was dinically
levant.
The BSET Feilowship Programme ￿a$ adverb.sed for 2024 arKI one Endovascular Training Fellowship was
appointed who ￿11 undertake a six month training post at Addenbrcx)ke's Hospital, Cambridge. The Training
Fellowship provides an opportunrty for vascular or intervenb'onal radiol¢)Jy trainees to acqui￿ new or more
complex endovascular skills.

Two Endovascular Travel Fellows were appointed. and funding was given lo support further training in specialist
endovascular units in Germany and Italy.
AII BSET Fellows provide a written report of their Fellowship experience which is made available on the Sociews
website, and also attend the Annual Meeting to give a presentation to attendees.
b. Research
BSET is committed to driving excellence in research and improwng outcomes for patients by raising the profile
and impact of endovascular research.
Two Research Pump Priming Grants were awarded for the first time in 2024 lo support research projects in the
field of endovascular therapy.
The BSET-ConformabLe Endovascular AneU￿rn Registry. on behalf of Gore. commenced in 2019. The
primary objective of the registry is lo collect real-worfd clinical data and device specific outcomes of GORE
EXCLUDER Confomiable AAA Endoprosthesis in routine dinical treatment of patients with abdominal aortic
aneurysms. Al data checks on 12 month follow-up clinical data have been analysed and a manuscript "An
analysis of aortic neck coverage of the GORE@ EXCLUDER@ Conforvnable AAA Endoprosthesis with ACTIVE
CONTROL System,. has been accepted for publication in the Joumal of Endovascular Therapy.
BSET has supported new research evaluatrng long-temi outcomes1>10 years) for FEVAR from GLOBALSTAR
registy data (Global Collabordlots on Advanced Slent-Graft Technbques for Aneurysm Repair). The registry
originally contained 881 records from 15 collaborating centres. The aim of the present study is to complete long-
term follow-up for GLOBALSTAR by collects.ng new dats and bolstering study numbers through the contn"bution
of new retrospective cases accrue(I follow-up dats from participatsng centres. The ethical approval for
GLOBALSTAR was renewed by the current study team. The team is led by Chief Investigator for GLOBALSTAR,
Mr Simon Neequaye (Trustee) and c￿l￿ves￿"gat0r Mr Aurélien Guéroult at St George's Hospital. The co-
investigator has come out of programme for a doctoral thesis. The hospitsl agreed to meet the cost of this and
so the Tnistees agreed that the funds sel aside as restricted for Globalstar could now be made unrestricted
funds. Any expenses incurred to support the work of the researcher wwld be paid for from these funds.
The project has benefited from patient involvemenvfeedback Ihrough the St George's Vascular patient advisory
group. Upon integration of the final centre's dalaset. manuscript ￿ting wll begin. Results will be disseminated
through academic conferences and the data will be presented at the Annual Meeting in June 2025. It is hoped
that publicab.on of the final dats wll positively influence commissioning decisions wlhin the NHS.
c. Collaborative work
Discussions had taken place wth the Bri￿sh Scciety of InteNentional Radiology wth the aim to fomi a closer
relationship between BSET and BSIR. A stalement of collaboration was produced and an agreement made to
have an educational session at the BSIR Annual Meeting. It was also agreed to pursue a joint educational
webinar.
The Trustees were working the charity The Circulation Foundation to assist an update on their patient
information leaflets relating to endovascular treatment.

d. Structurei governance and management
Two Trustee meekn.ngs were held in person and iwo OTr&line during this pericml. Organisational matters were dealt
with via email.
The Trustees had agreed lo Introdu￿ a new role of Wice-President. The Ifice-President was elected in June
2024 and commenced a one year lead-in period prior to tsking on the role as President for Iwo years from June
2025. This position is open to all premous and current Council members of BSET.
Two new Trustees were elected in June 2024.
The Trustees continued lo diseJJss the need for a p￿iCY on equalty. diversty and inclusion and work was
continuing on this.
e. Aims and key objectives for futhre I￿10d$
The Trustees plan to continue lo hdd the Endovascular Training C(MJrse in March 2025. and also hold the
Annual Meeting and National Vascular Training Day in June 2025. Consideration would be given to extending the
length of the Annual Meeb'ng.
An Endovascular Training Fellowship and Travel Fellowshipls) will be offered in 2025. Consideration would be
given lo increasing the amount awarded for a Travel Fellowship.
A Research Pump Priming Grant wll be awarded to support a research project in the field of endovascular
therapy. Consideration would be given to increasing the level of the grant the option of awarding up to
grants.
The Trustees wll conb.nue lo work ￿ the charity The circulats.on Foundation to update their patient information
leaflets relating to endovascular treatment.
Discussions wll conb.nue wth the 8ritish Swety of Interventional Radiology the aim to form a closer

Financial revlew
a. Reserves policy
The SocietYs reserves policy is maintained at £280.000. This WTII allow BSET to keep approximately 2 years.
annual operating costs in reseNe. The Trustees wll continue to assess the level of reserves il requires and will
update the policy rf it is felt its financial requirements have changed.

General infomiation
British Society Of Endovascular Therapy is a charitable incorporated organisation.
Accountlng policies
2.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements
The finanrial statements have been prepared in accordance vith the Charitieg SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reports'ng Standard applicable in the UK
artd Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) {effective 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021 and the Chariknes Act 2011.
The financial $12tements have been prepared to give a ITue and fairf view and have departed from
the Charities {Accounts and Reports) Regulakn"ons 2008 onty to the extent required to provide a Irue
and fairf view. This departure has involved followsng the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and ReFKJrting by Charities: Statement of Recommended
Practice effective from 1 April 2005 which has since been wthdravm.
British Society of Endovascular Therapy meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
Assets and liabilities are initially recognised al histOTical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
staled in the relevant accountyng policy.
2.2 Going concern
At the time of approving the financial statemenls, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the
charity has adequate resour￿$ to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus
the tnistees continue to ad￿1 the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial
statements.
2.3 In￿me
l income is recc•3nised once the Charity has ents"tSement to the income. it is probable that the
income wll be recewed and the amount of income recebvable can be measured ￿lIablY.
Other income is recognised in the period in which it is receivable and to the extent the goods have
been promded or on ciwnpletion of the serwce.
2.4 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constnjctive obligation to transfer economic benefit
to a third party. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits wll be required in settlement and
the amount of the obligab.on can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classffied by activity. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of direcl costs and shared costs. including support costs
involved in undertaking each actiwty. Direct costs attributable to a single actimty are allocated direcuy
to that actiirity. Shared costs which contn.bute to more than one actiwty and support costs which are
not attributable to a single activity are apportioned beh¥een those aclivities on a basis consislenl wth
the use of resources. Central stsff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and depreciation
charges allocated on the ￿)￿On of Ihe asset's use.
Expenditure on charitable actmbes is incurred on directly undertaking the activities which further the
Charitys objectives. as well as any associated support costs.
All expenditure is indusive of irrecoverable VAT.

2.5 Taxatlon
The Charity is considered to pass the tests sel out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 of the Finance Act
2010 and therefore it meets the definiti.on of a charitable o)mp8ny for UK corporation tax purposes.
Accordingly, the Charity is potentially exempt from taxation in respect of income or capital gains
received wlhin categories covered by Chapter 3 Part 11 of the Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Section
256 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992, to the extent that such income or gains are
applied exclusively to charitable purFM)ses.
2.6 Cash at bank and in hand
Cash al bank and in hand indudes cash and short-temi highly liquid investments with a Short maturity
of three months or less from the date of acquisits￿ or opening of the deposit or similar accounL
2.7 Liabilitles and provlsions
Liabilities are recognised then there is an r*)ligation at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefft will be required in settlement, and the amount
of the setdement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilities are recognised at the amtyjnt that the Charity anticipates il wll pay to settle the debt or the
amount il has ￿ceiVed as advanced payinents for the goods or seNces it musl provide.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the arnounts required lo settle the obligation. Vvhere
the effect of the time value of money is material, the provision is based on the present value of those
amounts, discounted at the pre-lax discount rate that reflects the risks specific to the liability. The
unwnding of the discount is recognised in the Statement of finanual activits.es as a finance cost.
2.8 Financlal instruments
The Charity only has financial assets and financial liabiltties of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instNments are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently
measured at their settlement value the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
rneasured at amorbsed cost using the effective interest method.
2.9 Fund accounting
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Tnjstees in
furtherance of the gener81 objectives of the Charity and bthich have not been designated for other
purposes.
Restricted funds are funds sthich are lo be used in accordan￿ with specific reslriclions imposed by
donors or which have been raised by the Charity for particular purposes. The costs of raising and
administering such fvnds are charged against the spectfic fund. The aim and use of each restricted
fund is set OLrt in the notes to the finanaal statements.
Investment income, gains and losses are allorated to the appropriale fund.
