Report of the Trustees for from 1st July 2022 to 30th June 2023
1. Ilminster & District Lions Club (CIO)
The Ilminster Lions Club was established in 1976 within the International Association of Lions Clubs (Headquarters at Oak Brook, Illinois, USA) and is part of Lions Clubs District 105SW.
2. Charity Status
Ilminster & District Lions Club (CIO) was formed on 17[th] January 2019.
3. Trustees

(i) A minimum of three and a maximum of twelve Trustees is required;

(ii) The President, Treasurer are one other (Phil Creed) areTrustees.

(iii) The Trustees may co-opt to fill any casual vacancy in their ranks. (iv) Two Trustees shall form a quorum for conducting business.
Lion Martin Smith was a witness to the signing of the Constitution on 10-1-2019 and has since retired from the Club..

4. Objectives
The objectives of the CIO are such purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales as the trustees shall in their absolute discretion determine, including (but not limited to):
Promoting without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating with the local authorities and voluntary organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare;
The relief of sickness or disability and preservation of good health including the prevention of avoidable blindness;
To help young people, especially but not exclusively through leisure time activities, so as to develop their capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society;
Promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment;
The relief and assistance of people in any part of the world who are victims of war or natural disaster, trouble or catastrophe.

Monies accruing to the CIO are deposited in a current account with NatWest Bank
6. Financial Review
Total receipts for the period from 1[st] July 2022 to 30[th] June 2023 were £21,161 whilst expenditure was £21,111 . The cash assets increased from £3988 (1-7-2022) to £4039 (30-6-2023) .
The majority of the income came from 2 dog rallies (October 2022, April 2023), donations, Concert in the Minster, Fashion Show and the Easter Egg raffle.

7. Assessment of Achievement/Performance
This year although the country was still to a degree being affected by COVID 19, we were able to run a number of events in the year. The Club was able to make charitable donations as follows;

8. Public Benefit
The Charity Objectives are widely couched and place no restriction upon those who might apply to the Charity for support and assistance and each request or referral is considered on its individual merits. The work of other charities is widely supported, especially those forming part of or partnered by Lions Club International or any of its constituent Districts or Clubs. The Trustees consider that the Public Benefit requirement is clearly met.
9. Administration
Administration of the CIO is undertaken by the Trustees on a voluntary basis without charge to the CIO. Incidental costs such as postage, stationery and telephone use are charged to the Club's separate Administration Account.
10. Future Plans
It is the intention of the Trustees and Members of the Club:-

to strive to rebuild the Club’s membership to increase the number of members.
