**Perkisound has made major**
**improvements to The Learning Hub,**
**formally known as ‘The Botany Barn and**
**Learning Zone’.**
**During September 2025, a new 3-room**
**modular building was installed and**
**opened within the Learning Hub area. The**
**building is fully furnished and tailored**
**specifically for children and young**
**people with special needs and is**
**used for educational activities during**
**term time. The area includes a large**
**commercial-size polytunnel,( opened**
**during accounting period 2023 – 24.) The**
**polytunnel has been upgraded this year**
**with connection to utilities including**
**heating and air conditioning and is now**
**in full use for horticultural activities. All**
**Learning Hub facilities are contained**
**within a separate secure area of the**
**Perkisound site and are booked**
**separately from the main Perkisound**

**music and recreation centre for the**
**benefit of children and young people with**
**additional needs, open daily throughout**
**the year for 50 weeks. Visitor numbers**
**have increased from last year by around**
**30%. The centre is regularly used by SE**
**for this period were 4,890 N schools,**
**children’s respite services, adult**
**residential facilities, and disability**
**community groups, as well as families**
**and carers caring for an autistic child or**
**young person. Visitor numbers for this**
**period were 4,890 and all visitors have**
**additional needs, the most prevalent**
**being autistic spectrum conditions.**
**Perkisound has continued to offer bi**
**weekly baby/preschool music stay-and-**
**play groups during term time and has**
**expanded the service by offering holiday**
