Nurulquran is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the following aims:
-
To advance Islamic education for the public benefit by providing structured classes, lectures, and teachings on the Islamic faith for both Muslims and non-Muslims.
-
To promote social inclusion by preventing social exclusion, alleviating the needs of the socially excluded, and facilitating their integration into society.
“Socially excluded” refers to individuals experiencing poverty, old age, illness (mental or physical), family breakdown, or socio-economic hardship.
Summary of Activities (2023–2024)
To fulfil its objectives, Nurulquran delivered a wide range of public-benefit activities:
-
Educational Classes: Weekly and term-based Islamic education classes were offered both onsite and online in English and Urdu, across various UK cities including London, Birmingham, Blackburn, Manchester, and Reading.
-
Seasonal Courses for Children and Teens: Short, age-specific courses were held in January, April, and July 2024. These included Qur’anic lessons, Islamic etiquette, and interactive learning through games, quizzes, and multimedia tools.
-
Short Courses for Adults: Inclusive seminars and short courses for men and women were held in October 2023 and April 2024. Topics covered contemporary Islamic issues, acts of worship, and character development.
-
Ramadan Programmes:
-
In April 2024, a children's camp and a teen-focused course were organised at a hired venue, blending spiritual learning with engaging group activities. All instructors were DBS-checked.
-
Special Urdu and English courses for sisters were arranged, focusing on Qur’anic translation and brief commentary to enhance the Ramadan experience.
-
Educational Resources: Nurulquran produced and distributed religious materials such as Qur’ans, course folders, and student notes.
-
Food Aid: In partnership with Sufra Charity, food parcels were distributed during Ramadan to support families facing financial hardship.
To carry out these activities, the Charity regularly hires external venues, such as local schools and community halls. These rented spaces enable Nurulquran to run its programmes effectively while continuing to work toward the long-term goal of acquiring a permanent site.
All activities adhered to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
