Ashley Head **3** Docusign Envelope ID: 28E9578F-6134-438D-BDA6-BDC6DA831478 ## **Objectives and Activities** Having supported numerous charities over the years, Jeremy Hinds and Stephen Curwen decided to formally set up the Charitable Foundation in 2017 so that they could start working on a closer level with more locally based charities, schools, and community groups. Through their business, Stonegate Homes, they had already helped with several notable charitable initiatives as well as sponsored numerous local sports clubs and athletes in need of funding, but there was a huge sense that through strategic partnerships and collaboration as well as fund raising that they could have a much bigger impact locally through the Stonegate Foundation. They were extremely fortunate that lawyer Philip Herbert and businessman Ashley Head also shared their vision and agreed to become trustees of the charity with them. The trustees aim is to enhance the lives of everyone in the local communities in which they live and work, from the young to the old, those with a physical handicap, mental illness, injury or life limiting illness. The Foundation will primarily support local community groups, charities, schools and organisations operating in Mole Valley and the wider Surrey area however from time to time may support both National and International causes. **4** Docusign Envelope ID: 28E9578F-6134-438D-BDA6-BDC6DA831478 ## **Structure, Governance and Management** ## **Type of governing document** The Stonegate Foundation was formed under a Trust Deed on 28[th] November 2017. The Board of Trustees administers the Charity in accordance with the Trust Deed. ## **Trustee recruitment and appointment** Appointment of Trustees is governed by the Trust Deed of the Charity. On appointment new Trustees receive a detailed information pack on both their role as a Trustee and on the Charity. They are invited to attend a Trustees’ meeting before formally accepting the position. The Trustees met once during 2021 to discuss charitable updates, in addition to adding the charity manager to the banking. Day to day administration is the responsibility of the Secretary and the Treasurer. **5** Docusign Envelope ID: 28E9578F-6134-438D-BDA6-BDC6DA831478 ## **Achievements and Performance** Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic; The Stonegate Foundation was unable to run its usual Charitable Fundraising Events which had an affect on the donations we were able to grant this year. ## **2021 - The Best of British Raffle** Due to the pandemic crisis still being an issue and many of our supporters unwilling to participate in football matches or attend charitable balls, it was decided that we would instead host an online raffle whereby prizes would be offered and given away to winners of the raffle. The raffle was quite successful with over 600 tickets sold. The winners were delighted with the items they won and we feel the event was both imaginative and successful! **6** Docusign Envelope ID: 28E9578F-6134-438D-BDA6-BDC6DA831478 ## **Financial Review** During the year ended 5 April 2022, the charity generated income of £33,979 through a combination of donations and raffle ticket sales. Resources expended totaled £33,590. Of this, £23,590 was spent funding the charity ’s fundraising events and £10,000 was spent on building a house as agreed in minutes of the board meeting. Due to COVID-19 pandemic we were unable to proceed with the annual charitable fund-raising ball in 2022. At the year-end, reserves of £18,107 were held. The Stonegate Foundation have a policy that they will reserve in their accounts of £5,000 at all times unless otherwise agreed by the Trustees. We have based this figure on the following reasons: - Planned commitments, or designations, that cannot be met by future income alone, for example plans for an event or a major asset purchase or to a significant project that requires the charity to provide ‘matched funding’. - Covering unforeseen day-to-day operational costs, for example employing temporary staff to cover a longterm sick absence. - A source of income, for example a grant, not being renewed. Funds might be needed to give the trustees time to take action if income falls below expectations. - The need to fund short-term deficits in a cash budget, for example money may need to be spent before a funding grant is received. The difference held in our current end of year reserves will be allocated to further Community Funding Grants. At the start of the year, £12,728 was due from Stonegate Homes as a result of initial donations being received by Stonegate Homes during the Stonegate Foundation’s set up phase. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 05/04/2022. As the charity 's trustees , you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or - the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or - the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. ## **Creditors** Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price).
