The Charity’s facilities are normally open to the public every day of the year for
all the daily prayers, in the well-maintained spaces of the Al-Emaan Centre,
accessible to all.
The ethos of the mosque has been to serve & engage with the wider community,
and running this initiative really helped our mosque bring this spirit to life.
A wide range of services is offered for both Muslims and non-Muslims, often in
partnership with others. The Charity places strong emphasis on building
relationships with others so we can work together for the common good. A
highlight this year has been the regular interfaith activities on topics relevant to
our collective congregations. During interfaith week we visited each other’s
places of worship to experience the sermons of the 3 Abrahamic Faiths in the
area. A wonderful testimonial of this can be found below:
‘I have been meaning to write to you to thank you and also everyone else at the
synagogue for welcoming me and my children at your prayers.
I don't quite know how to express what I felt. I saw and read so many similarities
in the way that Muslims and Jewish people glorify God and praise him. I saw the
names of so many Prophets that I respect and love and try to be like in your
books. The sound of the Rabi, Laura I think, speaking Hebrew with a beautiful
melody just made me feel so much at home as it felt similar to how we recite the
Qur'an. I felt totally overwhelmed by our similarities and the question in my heart
which was "why are so many people in the world so focused on our differences
when we have so many similarities to celebrate?". This question resulted in
tears. I couldn't stop the tears as I read on in the book I held in my hand and I
continued to listen to the speech. I must apologise if I caused a distraction to
anybody.
Anyway, I am so grateful to be part of this community where we can stand
together, pray together and enjoy each other.

The Charity facilitates our wider engagement, welcoming visiting adults and school groups on a regular basis. Since opening up post lockdown, we have been able to facilitate these visits on a regular basis. The wonderful support given to the Charity by our community continues, reflecting the Islamic emphasis on charitable giving; in this year, over £200k was raised in donations and from other fundraising initiatives. In pursuance of the objects, the Charity hosts a range of services and activities for the benefit of the public.

The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2022.
## **Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities**
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Charity annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to the charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing the financial statements the trustees are required to:
- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
- make judgments and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
- state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
- Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts & reports) regulations 2008 and provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees for the purposes of charity law who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out on page 1.

I report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 March 2022.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
1. The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
2. Having satisfied myself that an audit is not required, it is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
- To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently, no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
- to prepare accounts which accord with accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act, and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities, have not been met; or
2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
