These<br>included Athletcs, Hockey, Table<br>Tennis, Football and Rugby. Exhibitons<br>also took place for Boxing and<br>Kabaddi. The festval also included the<br>frst screening of the flm Queens of<br>the Commonwealth which highlighted<br>the role of women from across the<br>Commonwealth who had made Britain<br>their home and the challenges and<br>struggles they faced.<br>The Play Zones project involved a<br>piece of research carried out by UCAN<br>on behalf of Birmingham City Council<br>and the Football Foundaton. The<br>research involved an online survey,<br>group interviews and individual<br>interviews. Over 610 people engaged<br>in the online surveyand over 30group|





and individual interviews were undertaken. The demographic of those taking part in the research reflected Birmingham’s young and diverse population with 44% of the participants under the age of 18 and 78% were non-white. As a result of the research, 4 venues across Birmingham have received funding to develop the Play Zone sites.  The four sites are: Adderley Park – Alum Rock Ward Batchelors Farm – Bordesley Green Ward Concord Youth Centre – Sparkbrook Ward Action Indoor Sport – Graveley Hill Ward
