## **Section C Objectives and activities**

**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

To promote the arts for the public benefit in particular but not exclusively by: 1) Providing an accessible and affordable performance venue, for the residents of Staffordshire and its surrounding counties. 2) Advancing the education of the performing arts, theatre, music, dance and cinema to further the development of public appreciation. Our aim is to provide a vibrant event space for the growing town of Stone and surrounding areas. People from various established community groups have joined together to form the Crown Wharf Theatre charity with the aim of creating an affordable and accessible facility for the whole community. This project is about creating enhanced local access to arts and culture, advancing education and learning for children and adults and inspiring community participation across a range of performing arts and cultural activities. Covid had a dramatic impact on our activities and original plans for the year were cancelled and had to be reframed. The majority of funding streams were paused and redirected to support pre-existing venues and organisations. However despite these challenges we still managed to push the project forward and to engage with the community. Activities included a family friendly open event (just before Covid hit) and then a host of online engagement from lockdown social media campaigns, virtual tours, email newsletters and the roll out of our online community survey to further understand the wants and needs of our audiences and users. We also engaged a local architect to provide a detailed design of our back of house areas ensuring it remains disability friendly, sympathetic to its historic site and is as multifunctional as possible to ensure the widest range of use upon completion. The plans will be going out to tender at the beginning of 2021. We confirm that the trustees have had regard to the Charity
