Durlng the year Trafford South Foodbank dlstributed 55,¢X*) kg of food to 1,824 familles and Indlvlduals holdlng vouchersvtho were in crisi5. Thls accounted for 4,802 people. The major reasons gfven for being In crlsls were low Income, benefit delays, benefrt changes and slckness/ill health. There has been an increase in the number of dients who are using the foodbank who are in full time employment but thelr wages are not sufficient to cover normal weekly expenses. The foodbank contlnues to ernpldy a project manager for 19 hours per week. Her salary Was Increased by io% wtth effect from the l Aprfl 2022. The salary is now fully funded by the foodbank as the 3-year grant from ASDA ended In 202L The project mana8erfs major ￿SpOnSIbIlItIeS are to manage the efflclent runnlng of the foodbank but also to engage wlth OUts￿e organlsatlons to work on plannln8 to reduce poverty and the tteed for foodbank& A major asset and part of the success of the foodbank has been the van. The three-year lease on the current van (a Peugeot Professlonal) wlth Vanarama came to an end In Septefftber 22 and It ha5 been replaced by a sjl8htly larger van, a Ford Translt, agaln on a three.year lease sourced throu8h Vanarama. The Foodbank applled In 2021 to the Tru5sell Trust Flnandal Inclusion Pro8ramme for three-year 6rant to work In partnershlp wlth Cltlzens Advlce Stockport. Oldham, Rochdale and Trafford (CASORTI to provlde free. Impartlal quallty assured financlal Incluslon advlce and support, tallored to the Indmdual needs of the Foodbank cllents In the Foodbank dlstrlbutlon centres. CASORT wlll supply an advlser for 25 hours per week spllt Into 5, 2-hour sesslons per week located at the Dlstrlbutlon Centre5 and a further 15 hours to ft>llow up work outslde of the foodbank sesslons. The Foodbank was awarded the CASORT grant of £42.050.26 for 2023 and £42,835.27 for 2024. An addltlonal 8rant for year three of £44.548.68 Will be revlewed and fina115ed before the end of 2024. The 8rant could elther be 8ranted In full. amended or wlthdrawn. The.total 8rant for years one and two of £84,885.531s spllt Into £73,813.50 of re5trirted use for employment C05tS. travel, office cost5. mana8ement, tralnln& and the spot purchase of specialist addltlonal advlce. The remalnder of £11,072.03 has unrestrltted use for foodbank operatlonal overheads. The 8rant for 2023 has been received but no spendlng has taken place so far. Also, thé foodbank recelved £7,0Tr) from the Orange famlly to be used to pay for the rent of the warehouse at Newstead Hall. The total income for 2022 was £126.811. wlth a totsl expendlture of £78.1(K). A bank balance of £160.599 Is carrled fonvard to 2023 of which £36,565.44 is for restrltted purposes.
