volunteering and asslsting oihers.

foodbanks to allow them to provide additional
meals during the lockdown period food to

Over marby yearsthe local Rotary Club h3ve
provided meals for the elderly of Clacton but
unfortunately due to reduclng member

numbers caused an Inablllty to ralse the
necessary funds and this tO8ether with an
aging membership they felt unable to do this at
Christmas 2023. The Llons. collaborating with
CVST in helpin& provided the necessary funds
to keep this service going and expanded it to
include the elderly and lonely. This requlred
the purchase of the food, Cooklng of the meal5.
The meals were provided in the CVST building
whlch provided a wami environment for often
lonely people to meet up with others on
Christmas.
Supported the Herts and Essex Air Ambulance
which operates across the whole area including
Cl8cton on Sea. Walton on the Naze, Harwlch,
Brightlingsea, Mannin8tree and Mistley.
At all times, the trustee5 keep in mind the need
to follow the approved Grants Pollcy whilst
keeping in mind the requirements of the
Ch3rSty Commission on Publlc Benefit and thls
Is always at the forefront of any
recommendations made to the club members
on expendlture and activities undertaken.

In total Clacton on Sea Llons ICIOI donated just
over£13,000 to groups and Indlvlduals in the
local community plus other local and natlonal
charltles. This includes funds whlch were
donated to the Lions Clubs International
Foundation ILCIFI to support Its work In
eradic3tlng preventable blindness. the
eliminatlon of measles worldwide and disaster
rellef. Any donations handed out by LCIF are
used by members of Lions Clubs living locally and
are therefore guaranteed to reach those who
need help most.

We contlnued to issue Message in a Bottle
throughout the year and 1276 were issued.
These bottles are stored Sn a central pla￿ in
Individuals, homes such as the fridge and contain
paperwork to show Illnesses, medication, and
any other relevant InformatSon such as next of
kin. The bottles are well known to the
emergency servlces who flnd them especlally
useful and help to issue them on our behalf.
They look for them when they attend a person's
home so they can have the necessary
information to hand especially If the patient ins
uncons¢lous Or cannot oiherwlse speak.
We have fully, or part funded 4 deflbrillators In
the Tendrlng DSstrlct and contlnue to provlde the
nece55ary spare parts to allow them to remain
fully functional. One In partlcular whlch Is
slghted next to the late-night venues and
seafront has been used on numerous occasSons,
Worked with a local sehool in Clècton on Sea to
distribute a large number parcels from their
Harvest Festlval to the needy In the local area.
Due to the contlnued steep increase in cost of
living the local foodbanks like many others
suffered a huge surge in demand for thelr
servlces and found it dlfflcult to cope wlth the
demands placed on them. As a result, donatlons
were therefore made to the 5 Food Banks th3t
operate In the Tendrlng area a5 well asthe

Trusell Trust who have a separate Scheme irt the
area.
Donatlons were also made to the local Stroke
Seryice who provide physiotherapy.
encouragement to try and lead as normal a Ilfe
a5 posslble to those who have had a stroke and 3
meetin8 place for victims and thelr familie5.
We agreed to fund the 4 Prostrate screening
event in conjunction with a local charity CHAPS
for 100 men in the Tendring aTea. This will take
place In November 2024 and the necessary funds
have been earmarked for thi5 event. Those
tested were glven the results and advised to
contact theSr doctor if the results of the test
were such as to give a cause for concern. The
previous sessions resulted In a finding several
men wlth a hlgh chance of havlng Prostrate
cancer. Follow up analysis of those wlth the poor
results showlng concÈrn found that some dld
have cancer but due to the early diagnosls
received treatment an(J are now clear.
Whenever possible donatlons to national
charities are han(led to the local branch for use
In the Tendrln8 area. However, on occasions
donatlons and 3ssi5tance are glven nationally
i.e.. collectlng on behalf of the Marie Curle
Daffodll Appeal.
Further donatlons were made to Sallshlp a CIC
whose alm Is to champion work & Ilfe skllls
training for people living with a learning
disability. They also provide therapeutic
pathways for improved mental health and well-
being for the wlder community- people of all
ages and offer dementia friendly spaces within
our grounds.
A donatlon was made to the natlonal Lions Clubs
Brian Tumour appeal which is helping funding
into the causes and treatment of Brain Tumours.
The donatlon was made from funds specifically
collected for th55 appeal.

A donation was made to a local dementia group
run by CVST to allow them to show plttures to
the members which helps them remember their
past and famlly.
A donatlon was made to a group to provtde
Chrlstmas presents to Ioc31 children who Ilve In
the Jaywick area of Clacton on Sea an area whic
ha5 one of the hlghest levels of deprivation sn
the UK.
The Charity has also stated to Issue'Plugsters'
these a￿ made of a strong p13Stic and designed
to fft around a 13amp plug In such a way that
there Is a loop at the front of the plug which
allows those wlth limited hand movement to pull
the plug out of the wall socket easlly.
Clacton Lions have worked closely with a
charlty TendrlnE Talkln8 nmes Irrri, a weekly
talkin8 newspaper for those wlth slght problems.
Was Struggling to attract volunteers to run
the seryice and members of Clarton on Sea Uon5
Club have Stepped in to provlde readers, people
to undertake the recordlng, packers to send out
the memory sticks and unpickers to remove the
memory stlcks from the wallets on their return
after use. Addltionally* 3 members of Clacton on
Sea Lions have joined the committee running the
service. Two are Trustees one taking over as
Chalrman and the third is the property manager
looklng after the malntenance and safety of the
property and the equipment.

The Lions Charity has a good name locally and
requests to members of the public when
colletting funds are well received by the publlc
who often seek us out in preference to others.
We also have a particularly good worklng

gain are always happy to allow us space for

income is not enou8h to justify this. However,

have funds available in our 90-day deposit

are reluctant to transfer more than necessary
to allow these to be avallable for as long as
possible. The £3,000 reserve is held within th15
account so funds will never be allowed to drop
below that fi8ure.
All charitable funds ralse(I from the publi¢ and

others. All administration costslfees come
from members annual subscrlptlons and other
payment5 from members such as fines at
meetlngs for silly comments and are kept
totally separate from Charitable funds in their
