|charity,|identifying|||the||the year and this enabled<br>us to continue to make||
|difference the charity's<br>work has made to the<br>circumstances<br>of its||||||donations.<br>Whilst no specific conditions were<br>attached to the grant the Clacton on Sea Lions||
|beneficiaries|||and|any||Club {CIO)have decided that the money<br>will only||
|wider benefits|||to|society||be used to support projects which benefit the||
|as a whole.||||||people ofTendring.<br>To this end not all the grant||
|||||||was utilised<br>in the year 2020/21 and some has||
|||||||been carried forward<br>ringfenced<br>for future||
|||||||projects during 2021/22. In some ways it was|a|
|||||||difficult year as many ofthe||
|||||||organisations/groups<br>we would<br>normally<br>assist||
|||||||were not operating<br>normally<br>and not seeking||
|||||||funding<br>however,<br>in total Clacton on Sea Lions||
|||||||{CIO)donated just overf6,100to groups and||
|||||||individuals<br>in the local community<br>plus other||
|||||||local and national<br>charities. This includes funds||
|||||||which were donated to the Lions Clubs||
|||||||International<br>Foundation<br>(LCIF)to support<br>its||
|||||||work in eradicating<br>preventable<br>blindness,<br>the||
|||||||elimination<br>ofmeasles word wide and disaster||
|||||||relief such as was undertaken<br>followed when||
|||||||there was a large explosion<br>in Lebanon. Any||
|||||||donations<br>handed out by LCIFare used by||
|||||||members of Lions Clubs living locally and are||
|||||||therefore guaranteed<br>to reach those who need||
|||||||help most.||
|||||||We continued to issue Message<br>in a Bottle||
|||||||throughout<br>the year and over 843were issued.||
|||||||These bottles are stored<br>in a central place in||
|||||||individuals'<br>homes such as the fridge and contain||
|||||||paperwork<br>to show Illnesses, medication,<br>and||
|||||||any other relevant<br>information<br>such as next of||
|||||||kin. The bottles are well known to the||
|||||||emergency<br>services who (who find them||
|||||||especially<br>useful) and help to issue them on our||
|||||||behalf. They look for them when they attend<br>a||
|||||||person's<br>home so they can have the necessary||
|||||||information<br>to hand especially<br>ifthe patient<br>ins||
|||||||unconscious or cannot otherwise<br>speak.||
|||||||Donations were also made to two local||
|||||||organisations<br>supplying<br>meals to those in need||
|||||||the first was a breakfast club for forces veterans||





|in need offriendship<br>and companionship<br>and the|
|---|
|second was for those who are homeless.|
|Paid for physiotherapy<br>for a young teenager<br>with|
|multiple<br>physical<br>problems to help her gain|
|independence<br>and mobility. This is ongoing for a|
|further year.|
|Worked with a local school to distribute<br>143|
|parcels from their Harvest<br>Festival to the needy|
|in the local area.|
|Donated to Hope for tomorrow.<br>Hope for|
|tomorrow<br>is a dedicated<br>charity working<br>with|
|the local hospital<br>brings cancer care closer to|
|patient's<br>local area via Mobile Cancer Care Units|
|one ofwhich operates<br>in the area covered by|
|Claton on Sea Lions (CIO). Use ofthese units|
|prevents<br>people living in rural areas having to|
|travel long distances to receive treatment.<br>The|
|funding<br>was specifically for its work in the|
|Tendring area|
|Due to the lockdown<br>and Corona Virus the local|
|foodbanks<br>like many others suffered<br>a huge|
|surge in demand<br>for their services and found it|
|difficult to cope with the demands<br>placed on|
|them. Donations were made to the 5 local|
|foodbanks to support them.<br>Additionally<br>in|
|addition to the foodbanks<br>we supported<br>Food|
|Cycle which provides food parcels as well as|
|providing<br>hot meals for the homeless,<br>hungry,|
|and lonely either at their centres or a a takeaway|
|service. Also supported<br>was Tendring<br>Elder Care|
|which provides support<br>parcels to the vulnerable|
|elderly.|
