## **CHARITY COMMISSION - ANNUAL REPORT 2021**

## **ACTIVITIES - how the charity spends its money**

**The Romani Foundation (Help For Dependency) is dedicated to helping those experiencing dependency or addiction, their family and friends - helping to beat dependency and addiction by improving their mental/emotional health and wellbeing. By providing information and help to better understand substance use, addictive disorders, dependency and addiction, we hope that you will be able to make better lifestyle choices and get the right help.**

**The Romani Foundation operates from the founders/CEO’s home/office and comprises a CEO, PA and a Board of four trustees. Family members and close friends volunteer their time to help and support the day to day operation of The Romani Foundation.**

**The Founder/CEO has supported the Charity financially via charitable contributions from her business enterprises and will continue to do so. In December 2022 The Romani Foundation was successful in attaining a micro- grant from The Bradford Fund centred around ‘Resilience’. This funding has enabled our organisation to focus on strategic issues to enable sustainability as the Foundation grows and develops. Our Insurance Company has donated our annual insurance premiums and**

**we continue to receive small donations from other initiatives such as Give As You Live.**

**Due to the impact of COVID we have been unable to run any major fundraising events.**

**Through dedicated partnerships with a production company, other charitable organisations and people with lived experience of dependency/addiction we have produced education material on Understanding The Risks of Dependency/Addiction. The nine films are aimed at informing and educating people on the concept of dependency/addiction; explaining the science behind it, presenting keywords and featuring select moments from interviews with seven people who have each been exposed to different types of dependency/addictions.**

**Our website and social media platforms - Help for Dependency - are continually evolving. Social media in particular is effective in sharing information about all different aspects of dependency/addiction, physical and emotional wellbeing, diet and exercise etc. As well as linking with a UK audience; we also now have a global following. Our interactive sharing of information of the latest news/research is essential to helping and supporting people make better lifestyle choices around dependency/addiction.**

**During the next year we’re hoping to appoint more Trustees to the Boards so that we can expand our expertise in the field of dependency/addiction. We would also like to appoint Ambassadors in different regions of the UK to provide educational awareness of dependency/addiction. Likewise through the ‘Power of Connections’ we’re expanding our links with other charities, businesses and public services to embed our work within different communities.**

**We will continue to apply for external funding to help support the running costs of the Foundation and also to extend our project work in communities.**
