Continued focus on fundraising and sustainable growth will be essential to secure our long-term future and achieve our goal of relocating to a new site. ## **HOLBROOK ANIMAL RESCUE HORSHAM** REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER: 1181456 ## **Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31 December 2024** ## **Objectives and activities** - For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of animals in need of care and attention by providing animal care, a rescue home, veterinary treatment including neutering, and a sanctuary for animals that have been abandoned, mistreated or lost. - To provide rehabilitation to animals that have experienced trauma and/or behavioural issues and ensure that they can live the best life possible. - To find safe, loving permanent homes for rescued animals which meet their individual needs. ## **Achievement and performance** The charity continues to uphold the core values established by Laura and Cliff Santini and remains committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. During 2024, over 100 dogs and other animals were successfully rehomed, both from the UK and overseas. We also continued to help rehome a variety of other animals including cats, rabbits, ducks, and chickens. The number of animals requiring our help has risen this year, largely due to the cost of living crisis, which has made it increasingly difficult for many owners to keep their pets. Our vet fees continue to represent one of the largest areas of expenditure, as many animals arrive unneutered or without vaccinations, requiring significant veterinary treatment before they can be safely rehomed. In addition to veterinary costs, the rising cost of living across the UK has increased our spending on essentials such as food, cleaning supplies, and utilities. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of care for every animal that comes through Holbrook. We continue to provide lifelong care for our sanctuary animals, ensuring they live safely and comfortably at Holbrook. A highlight of the year has been our ongoing partnership with Pets at Home, which has provided valuable support for both fundraising and public awareness of our work. We have also continued to receive donations through our website, PayPal, JustGiving, and social media platforms, as well as support from the local community and businesses. The Trustees extend their heartfelt thanks to our dedicated team of over 50 volunteers, whose hard work and compassion remain the backbone of the charity. ## **Financial review** At the end of the financial year, our income was £151226.00, and our expenditure was £86296.00 The charity continues to face significant financial pressure due to the rising costs of veterinary care, utilities, and essential supplies. Fundraising remains a key focus, and we are deeply grateful for the continued generosity of our supporters. We remain committed to securing a new site for the charity. The planning application with Horsham District Council was ongoing throughout 2024, and although challenges remain, we continue to pursue this goal as a vital step in our long-term future. ## **Plans for 2025** - Continuing our work to secure a suitable new location to ensure the charity’s sustainability and enable us to continue our vital work for years to come. - Expanding our fundraising team and activities, with the aim of increasing both income and public awareness. - Building stronger relationships within the community and with local businesses to support our long-term goals. - Continuing to provide the highest standards of care for all animals that come through our doors. ## **Structure, governance, and management** The charity is managed by the Board of Trustees. Trustee meetings are held regularly to review operations, agree actions, and ensure decisions are recorded and implemented appropriately.
