Whalley and District Lions continue to hold various functions throughout the year to raise charitable funds. These were donated to worthy causes both in the local community, nationally and internationally.

Whalley Day which is now in its third year is held during the Heritage Open Days Weekend. The event, held at Whalley Abbey is a celebration of village life with local businesses, churches, youth groups and community groups all enjoying a day of craft stalls, games, entertainment and food. The event raised £1,442 after expenses for the charity account.

Donations from Whalley Lions to other charities, groups and individuals included Burnley Boys and Girls Club £300, Lead Exposure Elimination Project £100, Macular Society and The Samaritans £130, Music and Wellbeing Project £100, Texas floods £100, Taipei earthquake £100 and Friends of Whalley Moor Woodland £100. A young, disadvantaged ballerina from Whalley was given a donation of £100 to attend ballet school and £250 was donated to children visiting from Ukraine. Donations were also given to the Ribble Valley Food Bank, Salvation Army and Child Action Nort West.

Members through volunteering their time also supported Whalley in Bloom, the Flood Action Group and Clitheroe Food Festival. We continue to organise monthly village clean ups, hold free coffee mornings, glean surplus fruit, organise an Easter Treasure Hunt for children and a lunch and Christmas meal for our local older residents.

The charity account total income of £4,242 was raised through Whalley Day (as above), donations, book sales, coffee mornings and street collections.

The club account total income of £4,605 is from membership fees and events identified as non-charitable. The fees are used to pay membership subscriptions to Lions District/Multi District and International.
