Para 1.17 The purpose of NTM Patent Care UK (NTMPCUK) is
to provide informaton and support to NTM patents.
We also work with Healthcare Professional (HCP)
teams to improve understanding of patent needs,
co-ordinatng and facilitatng the transfer of
informaton in both directons.
This purpose is set out in the Consttuton as the
following objectves:
To improve the lives of people with non-tuberculous
mycobacterial (NTM) infecton in the UK, in partcular
although not exclusively, by:
a) the provision of educaton and informaton to
increase understanding of NTM in both the clinical
and patent communites.
b) the development and implementaton of a support
network for NTM patent communites.

Main actvites for this reportng period include to the
following:
a) NTMPCUK has worked with Costello Medical to
produce the Patent Friendly Version of the NTM
Standards of Care. The NTM Standards of Care were
produced by NTM Network UK with support from
NTMPCUK. The Patent Friendlyversion can currently

only be downloaded but NTMPCUK is working on producing a printed version. b) NTMPCUK has held Zoom Meetings for NTM patients and HCPs with an interest in NTM. The meetings included talks and presentations on areas with specific relevance to NTM patients such as physiotherapy, pharmacy, microbiology and dietetics, as well as general Q&A sessions. The meetings also provided a forum for NTM patients to share and discuss their experiences of NTM and associated issues. c) NTMPCUK hosted a stand at the British Thoracic Society conference in London, 22-29 November 2024. d) NTMPCUK is in the process of improving its website to make it clearer and more accessible. The website provides up to date information and support to NTM patients. e) NTMPCUK has continued to send posters and leaflets to patients, respiratory clinics and other relevant locations. This has significantly increased engagement as well as raising awareness of the disease. f) NTMPCUK has continued to actively engage with the medical community, NTM patients and their wider support community, through phone calls and emails, to raise awareness of the disease. g) The NTMPCUK Management Group has met regularly and continues to develop strategies to meet its intended goals. h) NTMPCUK has a social media presence on Facebook along with a Facebook support and discussion group. In addition, the US-based NTM support group, NTMir, which has a global reach, have a UK patient forum purely for patients and carers. Uptake so far has been limited so NTMPCUK are taking steps to increase the number of users. i) NTMPCUK has embarked on a range of fundraising measures such as producing a cookbook. It has continued to raise money through donations and funeral collections. j) NTMPCUK is taking active measures to identify grant giving trusts to make applications for funding,

Para 1.20 Main actvites for this reportng period include:
a) Provision of improved support and informaton
specifc to NTM patents.
b) The producton of the Patent Friendly Version
of the NTM Standards of Care by Costello Medical
with support from NTMPCUK. These Standards
represent the minimum level of care that people
with NTM can expect to receive from the NHS in
order to secure the best possible outcome.
c) NTMPCUK hosted a stand at the Britsh
Thoracic Society winter conference in London,
November 2024
d) Maintenance of the NTMPCUK website which
provides NTM patents with informaton and
advice specifc to their situaton. This includes
patent stories, frequently asked questons, news
stories, research info, links to other informaton
sources as well as informaton on physiotherapy,
mental health and other useful informaton.
e) Provision of regular Zoom meetngs to provide
relevant informaton and support specifc to NTM
patents. This has improved support available to

these patients as well as providing an excellent opportunity for informal interaction between NTM patients and HCPs. This interaction has provided an improved understanding of NTM and the patient experience within both groups. f) The NTMPCUK Facebook page regularly posts information on a range of subjects including dates of meetings, research information, conferences, YouTube videos and other relevant information. The number of new followers is increasing. g) The Facebook discussion and support group gives patients, carers and HCPs an opportunity to interact, ask questions and support each other with shared experiences. The NTMir forum has been set up and NTMPCUK are working on increasing traffic. h) A cookbook with recipes by NTM patients and families has been produced and printed. The fundraising group are currently working on marketing strategies. i) Grant giving trusts have been identified. The next step is to make applications for funding.
