Chairman’s address
Chairman’s Address for GMTC
I would like to welcome you all to this year’s Annual General Meeting. As we gather here today, it is a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made as a society and a charity, we previously experienced lows as a society in previous years with shows been cancelled for our adult members. However the success of our junior section, who performed chitty in October is still growing and I look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for our junior section.
Firstly I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of our society over the past year. It’s been a year filled with remarkable achievements, and none of these would have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and passion of my committee, members and supporters.
I would like to personally say a special thank you to Fiona for her dedication and hard work in taking over as our Treasurer this year. Fiona stepped into a crucial role and has worked tirelessly to sort out our accounts, ensuring everything is in order and that we continue to operate smoothly. Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to the financial health of GMTC have been invaluable. Fiona, we are truly grateful for everything you’ve done, and we couldn’t have navigated this year without your expertise and support. Thank you so much!
I would also like to thank Vic who took over the role of Secretary. Vic has taken on this responsibility with incredible dedication and efficiency, ensuring that all our communications and administrative tasks run seamlessly. Her commitment to keeping everything organized and ensuring that we are all on the same page has been vital to the smooth operation of GMTC. Vic, I know I won’t be alone when I say thank you, we appreciate everything you’ve done.
One of the standout highlights this year was the resounding success of our junior section production, Chitty chitty Bang, which I’m sure you will all agree was an outstanding show performed by our junior section. This show not only captured the hearts of our audience but also demonstrated the incredible talent, creativity, and enthusiasm of our young performers. The positive feedback we’ve received from parents, and audience members and friends has been overwhelming, and it truly reinforces the importance of nurturing
and developing the next generation of talent. I also enjoyed playing conductor and assistant director for the first time. I’m really looking forward to working with our junior section again, but this time for my debut as director and choreographer for legally blonde.
Our children’s show was a testament to our commitment to providing opportunities for young performers. I would like to personally thank all the cast members, directors, MD, crew, committee and everyone involved in making Chitty Chitty Bang Bang such a phenomenal success. Your energy, enthusiasm, and hard work are what made this production so memorable.
I am also excited for our next adult show, as we prepare for our upcoming production of Young Frankenstein . This show promises to be an absolute blast, and I have no doubt that our talented members will bring it to life in the most spectacular way. It’s always a thrill to see our society perform, but it’s even more special when we know the level of creativity, hard work, and passion that goes into each performance. I’m confident that Young Frankenstein will be another great success.
I would like to take this time to say thank you to all the committee who have worked tirelessly to ensure our productions can be staged. Not everyone sees the hard work and dedication that is done behind the scenes to get a show put together. The meetings, the messages, emails, calls etc. everyone has contributed and given their time freely. Thank you all so much for being a great committee to work with.
Finally all that’s left for me to say is thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. I look forward to seeing what we will achieve together in the coming year. Let’s continue to work hand-in-hand to make GMTC an even greater success.
Thank you.
Scott Chairman
