The main activiti8s contre on the obj8ctiv8 of providing
access to various types of boating 6xperF8nc8 to P8opI8
of all ages who would not otherwise be able to access
mainstraam boating activities because of some fom of
dlsablllly. ABT has a very wlde defini1Son of dlsablllty
and accepts people wlth mental, physical and
behavioural issues: th8 only limitation being to always
8nsur8 the safety of thg part'icipanl.
The boating experience Is bullt around three types of
l)oats.
Sailing Craft
AB T has three types of craft, one more sulted to training
and the other for single handed sailing. The third is a
NE0495 sailboat that provides for Iwo people lo sit 8lde
by side and will furthar widen the range of disabilities we
Can accommodate. For those in a wheelchair there is a
hoist for lifting the sailor from their chair into and out of
the boat.
Bell Boats
Bell boats are off￿tIvelY a catamaran madg from tsvo
long open canoes seating up to 10 or so people and
steer&J by a qualified helm. They are very stable and are
therefore ideal for all partlclpants including those With
réducod ujordination. Thé boat 1$ large énough to allow
car8rs to support the participants if rgqulred.

Wheetyboat
The Vlh88lyboat is a purpose designed open motofboat
thal is ideal for anybody wants to gel on the water
but is unable or unwilling to paddle or sail for whatever
reason. The design is such that a wheelchair can be
rolled from Ihe Shore directly Into It. The steering
console is designed so that a person in a wheelchair can
(¢ubjoct to training) tako ￿11 eontrol. It io thoroforo idoal
for small groups who eitherjust want to enjoy the river or
a disabled sailor who wants to cwise the rlver
independently.

December 2018 to take over and develop the
accessible boating activities that had previously been
run by the Rivertime Boat Tnjst IRBT). The charity is
Operationally independent and uses a range of boats
that it owns.

SEND schools and regular opportunities for disabled
Individuals and groups to access water sport

In addttlon, ABT wmh Ots accessible picnic tsble8
8nab18d visits from sp8cial groups who had tha
opportunity to have a social gathering and the option
of using our boats for outings on the river Thames.
During the year ended 31¥t March 2025, ABT
OP8rated 12 bellboat sessions, wtth 20 to 30
participants on average and up to 6 people on the
Wheelyboat during the sessions. It operated 6 picnlc
sessions for groups involving behyeen 9 and 25
P80pl& èach time, wh8r8 they are taken out on th8
riv8r on th@ Wheelyt¥)at in groups of 6 people at a
tima. and there w8r8 also 27 individual and family
WheelytK)at trips Out for between 2 to 3 hours at a
time. In addition, ABT also conducted sailing
sessions.

As at th8 year ending 31 * March 2025, Ihe charlty had
gross in¢oma of £86,277 and expenditure of £17,222
glvlng a surplu8 for the y8ar of £69,055.
The extraordinary income included donatlons towards
the new wheelyboat of £50,219 and donations of the
Pion8r saf8ty boat and bellboat8 With 8 value of
£19,999. In addition donations of£16,059 were
received during th8 y8ar to bring the total gross
incom8 of£86,277.
The reserves Garrlod forward as at the 31* March
2025 tolalled £116,347, therefore Accessible Boating
Thames ha$ sufficient reserves to ensure its
continued operation.
