Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

We confirm the trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. In 2022 below activities and events took place: Czwartki 4You are regular meetings during which invited guests present the intricacies of their professional work. In 2022, 3 lectures were organized: March: Tom Brodowski MIOA - Measurement and assessment of ground-borne vibration. May: Dr Anna Płoszajski - Handmade: A Scientist’s Search for Meaning Through Making. October: MEng Jan Sprenger - Marzenie energii fuzyjnej – dlaczego zawsze 30 lat od nas (Dream about fusion energy – why is it always 30 years from now). V World Congress of Polish Engineers and XXVII Congress of Polish Engineers From June 23rd to 25th, the V World Congress of Polish Engineers and XXVII Congress of Polish Engineers took place in Gliwice in Poland. Organized by the Chief Technical Organization (NOT), the congress was an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from around the world, exchange experiences, and perspectives. The main theme of the Congress, "Engineers for a Healthy Planet," addressed two of the most pressing contemporary issues: the pandemic and climate change. Participants pondered how technology and its creators can actively and effectively contribute to maintaining the state of our planet, ensuring that humans and nature can continue to live and thrive on it. A detailed program is available on the official event website: https://szip.org.pl/ The Polish Association of Engineers (STP) was represented by six members. Four of them (Piotr Swieboda, Marian Zastawny, Krzysztof Szweda, and Rafal Dalimata) participated in or led discussions on various topics in the panel discussions: cybersecurity, passive houses, ecological transportation, and engineering organizations and youth. A comprehensive report on the congress can be found at https://www.szip.org.pl/podsumowanie and on the STP website - Światowy Zjazd Inżynierów Polskich (World Congress of Polish Engineers). Future of STP workshop On June 11th, at the STP office in POSK, representatives of the board, volunteers, and new members of the Association gathered to participate in program workshops. The hybrid Future of STP Workshops, with participants both locally and internationally, were led by Joanna Gos. The first part of the workshop focused on the current situation of STP - who we are, what we do, and our most important projects. We took a closer look at how we describe ourselves on our website, as well as how the contribution to individual projects translates into the number of internal and external recipients. Then, in subgroups, we tried to define the strategic goals we would like to achieve in the next few years and the actions we can take to accomplish them. In the final part of the meeting, we discussed ways to engage current members of the Association, reactivate past members, and potential sources for new recruitment. The outcome of the discussion was captured in a formal

development strategy for STP and presented at the board meeting in September.

The workshops and the creation of the report were financed from the budget of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London.

Mentoring

The STP mentoring program offers the opportunity to benefit from one of the Association's main strengths, which is a broad network of contacts in various industries with diverse levels of professional experience. Participation in the STP mentoring program is a chance for engineers to access the support and knowledge of more experienced colleagues. Many STP members are recognized experts in their fields, with extensive experience and established professional positions. Our mentors are eager to share their knowledge with their colleagues, supporting them in their development and shaping their professional careers. An opportunity to learn more about the STP mentoring program was provided through a meeting organized jointly with the Federation of Polish Student Associations, the Polish City Club, the Polish Medical Association in Great Britain, and POSK: "Introduction to Mentoring Programs: Networking Event 2022/23," which took place in October 2022.

Collaboration with other technical organizations

STP continues its efforts to expand the network of technical organizations with which joint activities supporting the development of our members and mutual promotion will be carried out under agreements. The signing of a cooperation agreement with the Society of Engineers UAE in November 2022 was made possible through the involvement of Vice President Eng. Teresa Bilińska. The collaboration between STP and the Silesian University of Technology was established thanks to the Trustee of STP, Eng. Krzysztof Szweda.

Trainings

Vice President of STP, Eng. Teresa Bilińska, organized a training session combined with lectures for individuals involved in the Electrical, Mechanical, and Public Health industries: 1. Training: "BUDOWNICTWO BEZ KOMPLEKSÓW I GRANIC" - 2nd Edition: Dubai and Qatar World Cup 2022 This training focused on the construction industry without complexes and boundaries, with a particular emphasis on the Dubai and Qatar World Cup 2022 projects.

III Conference of Polish Organisations in the UK

A delegation from our Association, consisting of Mirosława Michniewicz and Piotr Świeboda, represented STP during the 3rd Conference of Polish Organizations in the UK. A highlight for our Association was the warm welcome of conference participants by Consul General Mateusz Stąsiek, who spoke highly of our activities and mentioned STP as a positive example of an organization with over 80 years of history, which has successfully opened its doors to individuals who arrived in the UK after 2004 with the support of colleagues from the older wave of emigration. The theme of the conference was "International Cooperation of Polish Organizations in the UK - Experience, Opportunity, Challenges." The following topics were addressed during the conference: - The experience of Polish organizations in international contacts and international projects

On October 20-23, we had the pleasure to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Association of Polish Engineers and Technicians in France (Association des Ingenieurs et Techniciens Polonais en France). Anna Kopyta and Alina Antonik participated in the symposium "Engineers for the sake of the planet" in Paris.

Social events

One of the main goals of the Association is to support the integration of the engineering and scientific community in the UK. At STP, we strive to create numerous opportunities for our members and supporters to meet, get to know each other, and enjoy their time together. This year, we organized five social/networking events:

  1. Picnic to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

  2. STP trip to the Seven Sisters cliffs on July 16, 2022.

  3. Autumn trip to the Cotswolds on September 24-25, 2022.

  4. Christmas gathering on December 10, 2022.

These events provided a chance for our members to come together, build connections, and have a pleasant time.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The STP charity achieved remarkable milestones this year, focusing on excellent seminars, the World Congress, and the Women in STEM report development. The seminars, including "Czwartki 4You," provided valuable insights into professional work, while the Women in STEM report supported and highlighted the challenges of Polish women in technical careers. The World Congress brought engineers from around the world together to address pandemic and climate change issues, fostering collaboration and sharing of ideas. STP's commitment to professional development was evident through initiatives like the mentoring program, empowering individuals, especially women, in STEM careers. These achievements solidify STP's role in fostering growth and diversity within the engineering and scientific community.

Section E Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

The Association is to maintain a reserve fund. The reserve fund is created in order to encounter risk of unforeseen emergency or other unexpected need for funds, e.g. an unexpected large repair bill or finding ‘seed-funding’ for an urgent project. The reserve fund is to be included in the planned budget and should equate to 3 months average expenditure but not less than £2000.

Details of any funds materially in deficit

There are none.
