MISSION STATEMENT
To empower children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs (SEND), and their families, to reach their full potential through inclusive programs, advocacy and community-driven support.
OBJECTIVES

To relieve children and young adults with disabilities and special needs while providing support to their families, friends, and carers.

To promote social inclusion by preventing the marginalisation of individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
PART ONE: OUR PROGRAMMES & SERVICES
Safe Space for SEND
A weekly program for children and young people up to 25 with SEND, offering enriching and inclusive activities that promote wellbeing, confidence, and peer relationships in a safe, supportive environment.
SEND Siblings Care
Designed for the often-overlooked siblings of young people with SEND, this program offers activities to build emotional resilience, selfexpression, and positive social experiences.
Dads' Space
A welcoming support group for fathers and father-figures of children with SEND, offering opportunities to share experiences, reduce isolation, and build peer networks.
Ladies Breakfast & Chat
Weekly wellbeing sessions for mothers and female carers, reducing social isolation, promoting emotional wellness, and building a supportive community.
Building Confidence Series
Workshops and activities for all ages to promote self-esteem, skill development, and aspirational thinking through creative and practical experiences.
Children & Young People Conference
An annual youth-led event that empowers participants to share their voice, showcase talent, and explore topics affecting their wellbeing, education, and inclusion.
Cooking with Fatou
A culturally rich and inclusive cooking series that helps young carers and children with SEND develop practical skills, healthy habits, and a love for food, while encouraging teamwork and fun.
Ladies Together Conference
An uplifting annual event for women in our community, focusing on personal growth, mental and spiritual wellbeing, and positive parenting.
Day Trips & Respite Activities
Inclusive outings to leisure and cultural destinations to create joyful memories, promote socialisation, and provide respite for families.
Workshops & Advocacy
Practical support including benefit applications, signposting, parenting workshops, housing referrals, safeguarding guidance, and health education.

Collaboration lies at the heart of our impact. This year, we strengthened partnerships with local schools, churches, children’s services, housing associations, and supermarkets. Together, we:

Participated in joint safeguarding and SEND information workshops

This multi-agency approach has deepened trust and improved the quality of life for the families we serve.

Statement of Trustees' responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the report and accounts in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Charity law requires the Trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year. Under that law, the Trustees have elected to prepare the accounts in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under Charity law the Trustees must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of the profit or loss of the Charity for that period. In preparing these accounts, the Trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the Charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Small Charity provisions
This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions relating to small companies within Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006.

For the year ending 30 September 2024 the Charity was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies. The members have not required the Charity to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
The Trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies' regime and in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A - Small Entities.

1 Statutory information
THE JAVAN COKER FOUNDATION is a Charity, registered in England and Wales, registration number 1181275. The registered office is 47 Abbey Grove , Abbeywood , LONDON, SE2 9EU, UK.
2 Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
3 Accounting policies
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
Presentation currency
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when goods have been delivered to customers such that risks and rewards of ownership have transferred to them. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.
Government grants
Government grants in relation to tangible fixed assets are credited to profit and loss account over the useful lives of the related assets, whereas those in relation to expenditure are credited when the expenditure is charged to profit and loss.
Grants and donations
Grants and donations are only included in the SoFA when the general income recognition criteria are met (5.10 to 5.12 FRS102 SORP).

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 30 September 2024 Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a part qualified examiner's statement member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
