Chair’s Report 2021/22

After a very successful year I think we need to pat ourselves on the back and say “Congratulations Elizabeth’s Group”.

On March 8[th] 2022 we held a very successful community day when we unveiled “Our Elizabeth” a beautiful piece of art that has been extremely well received by the community and now graces Bridge Street as planned.

Our original plans when we first set up was as follows:-

Over the 4 years we have been in existence we managed to raise £70,000 and brought Elizabeth to the forefront in Congleton and most people now know who she is and we have set up the website. On top of that we got the link road named after her. I am very proud to say, every single penny we raised was well spent and accounted for thanks to our Treasurer, Peter Munro.

Thanks also to our tireless trustees, Heather Watson for her research and Kay Wesley for her slog with the Town Council and for all the commitment and hard work of every single one of the volunteers who have helped us along the way.

So now we look forward to moving this show on, continuing our research into Elizabeth’s life and searching for a building to house a serious display of Elizabeth’s life and the women’s movement generally.

We are an extremely successful, independent, non-political group and we are inspirational in our campaigning, we can do this!

Onwards and upwards.
