Contribution made by
volunteers
Para 1.38 The charity is heavily dependent on the
efforts of volunteers, including the
trustees, and in particular the following
committee members:
Sharon Gosling, who continues to give
her support, time and expertise to the
Finance subcommittee.
Hannah Coleman who effectively and
efficiently researches potential social
events for SCAMPPS members.
Other The Administrator Louise Beattie, has
once again supported the Finance
Committee to run the bid process for
deciding funding for equipment. She is
the Treasurer, with support from Trustee

accounts in order throughout the year,
and prepare the accounts and reports at
end of year. Louise also runs the
various events that we hold for our
families which continue to be very
popular.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 During the year the charity received a
record amount of donations which,
together with brought forward reserves
enabled it to meet its objectives by
holding events and funding all
equipment requests that met our
criteria. At the year end, our
unrestricted funds were close to the
minimum required under our reserves
policy which has meant the charity has
taken the difficult decision that future
funding of equipment will have to be
dependent on the amount of donations
received in the future.
Over the period, we have been fortunate
to receive a total of £34,212 (2023:
£32,421) in donations and specific
funding for trikes/bikes/buggies and
accessories, and from the Three Oaks
Trust who fund small items. Through a
lot of targeted appeals by our
administrator, we have gained a
substantial increase on the previous
year. The rest of the donations were
received from a variety of Charitable
Trusts and Foundations, including
through the efforts of our professional
fundraiser.
Total income for this period was £34,660
(2023: £32,887)
Total expenditure for the period was
£32,175 (2023: £31,740)
Key areas of expenditure were as
follows:
-
purchase of specialist and other
essential equipment £17,871
(2023: £20,601).
-
The remaining funds were spent
on:
o
SCAMPPS events £1,531
(2023: £2,305). We have
found some ways to keep
our costs down this year
o
Cycling courses, including
bikes for the participants,
£5,108, (2023:£495) paid
for out of funds
specifically donated for
that purpose,
o
Fundraising and overhead
costs £7,666 (2023:
£8,339).
The total closing funds on 31st August
2024, were £17,738 (2023: £15,254)
which included unrestricted funds of
£11,574 (2023: £6,289) and restricted
funds of £6,164 (2023: £8,965)
representing donations received to fund
specific types of equipment and for a
cycling course to be held after the year
end.
Statement explaining the Para 1.22 The charity’s policy is to hold reserves
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
(unrestricted funds) equal to 6 months’
budgeted “core” expenditure. As the
charity has no regular income and is
entirely dependent on donations, the
trustees consider that this level of
reserves is required so that the charity
can continue despite possible
fluctuations in the level of income.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 Reserves (excluding restricted funds):
£11,574 (2023:£6,289)
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 The charity is almost entirely dependent
on one-off donations, even though in
practice some of our donors are regular
givers. If the charity were to receive no
donations, it would not be able to
continue to function.

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 None of our activities would be possible
without the support of our donors.
Some of the donations we receive come
through our fundraiser, others from the
efforts of the trustees and our
administrator and some are entirely
unsolicited.
The trustees are extremely grateful to all
those donors large and small who have
supported the Charity so generously,
and make special mention of the
following who each gave us £1,000 or
more:
Ringfenced sums for trikes, bikes,
delichons and buggy accessories:
The Hargreaves Foundation
The Toy Trust
Anton Jurgens Trust
