Aylesbury Lions Club (CIO)

Annual Report Lions year 1[st] July 2022 – 30[th] June 2023

Since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has taken time for the club to build up their activities. We continue to submit articles in Aylesbury Town Matters.

The club President and Treasurer attended zone meetings where possible, both these officers are also District Officers where they attend meetings. All club members continued to collect spectacles from the 21 collection points throughout the Aylesbury/Thame area. The club recycled approximately 4000 spectacles during this Lion year. The club continued to receive a steady flow of requests for and hence distributed Message in a bottle and Message in a wallet to individuals and organisations requesting these items.

Organisations that benefitted from donations totalling approximately £1900 include Bucks Vision, Head2head Theatre, Chiltern MS Centre, Kids Cancer Charity and Florence Nightingale Hospice as well as smaller donations to deserving projects. The Santa Sleighs raised funds with the partners from Haddenham primary school Parent Teacher Association, Thame Youth, Bedgrove Scouts and Stone primary school Parent Teacher Association.

The following outline of the calendar of events reflects a mixture of service, welfare and fundraising opportunities with club members continually promoting the work of the local club as well as raising awareness about the wider role of the organisation globally.

August

Assisting Winslow Lions Club at the Bucks Show producing an income of £400.

September

May

July

Bedgrove Fun day was both a support for the local Resident association and a fundraising event by supplying teas and coffees plus cakes.

Haddenham Fete – 11.30-4.30pm involving 6 volunteers, with the usual small fundraising activities showed a small income of £126.
